oh this the kind of "marketing" you mean. sure, yeah, drake and travis don't do this.
I mean there's guys in charge of getting them on playlists, billboards in major cities, tv ad's, YouTube ad's, etc. That's marketing.
None of that matters if the artist don’t make it feel like it’s the classic rap label to make the signees seem larger than life. OVO is a bunch of niggas who seem like they could very well just be Drake background writers
Which is why CMG and 1017 are still around even tho Gotti and Wop probably fell off themselves a while ago
is this a troll post
this is also why they’re probably lost on what to do. the fanbases that cactus Jack and ovo have cultivated don’t actually like rap (or they only like the school of kanye/wayne/tpain/future version of rap lol) so they’re kinda stuck signing mediocre melodically strong/lyrically weak Pokémon evolutions of themselves lol.
Young thug did a better job too
Yeah even Tyler did a great job hell he did a better job putting on Kali then her own label did.
Drake and Travis just suck
I do miss the era when you know everybody on the label would be on each other’s projects. Even if it was just a posse cut.
ovo got boring artists besides partynextdoor. only super drake fans like them and that's because of the drake association.
drake and trav care about their artists but its like they do so little to actually promote their albums and help them gain hype.
I think another thing that contributes is the major labels involved especially for travis, Faygo is only signed to cactus jack no other label so he doesn't have the resources don has through Atlantic.
sheck is signed to good music (AWFUL LABEL) and ovo left Warner a while back which definitely removed some of the marketing support they had.
Did OVO leave Warner and then not re-sign with a major label? We ain’t even seen how low those album sales could get ..
It just boggles my mind how Drake has been so active on instagram and didn’t even bother to post ANYTHING about Roy’s project.
He shouldn’t be expected to go out and hand out CD’s for his artists but at least post their s*** man.
Don’t even think drake f***s w him
I love roy woods and pnd and bump dvsn and majid as well.
here in Canada they get loads of play but I feel like the states need wake up lol.
I think they get play where you’re at because they’re local. Where I’m at down south the ovo nocturnal/underwater rnb sound isn’t something I’ve heard in years and years. Maybe not since 2016-17.
Drake don’t move like this. I give Travis credit for trying with Jackboys. Sheck Wes beating b****es and being the most likely second biggest artist until he does that probably made him say f*** it once Don takes off.
This reminds me of some leak forever ago, maybe around more life days, where there was an OVO compilation album that ended up just getting scrapped for whatever reason.

Don got rape accusations and lowkey fell off after lemonade
While both label bosses are very globally successful artists, and have their own successful rnb singers with a consistent enough fanbase to sell 30k-90k sales without hits each album (don toliver, partynextdoor) the lack of marketing and promo for the other artists is f***ing trash.
SoFaygo, Sheck Wes, Roy Woods, DVSN, Baka, etc are definitely treated well by their labels in everything but marketing and features, like travis and drake have never really tried to give these people chances on their own albums or even given them a feature in a while (WHY WASNT FAYGO OR SHECK GIVEN FEATS TO BOOST CAREER).
it might be cuz they busy and s*** with their own careers but I think this is the biggest weak spot in their labels, because the music is THERE, it just doesn't have a audience that knows it exists.
STREAM ROY AND FAYGOS ALBUMS RN
OVO and Cactus Jack are just sobordinary labels for more money laundering & established artists f***ing up other artists. The music industry is a big MLM scheme
