It's like they think that there is some perfect guy out there without issues so they try to get a reference like an employer. It's understandable, but sooner or later if you're a regular human being your going to have some stuff about you. Especially if you're open with the people you are around with.
Generally stay clear from people that do that drama/tea s*** or check yourself when you do it yourself, bottom feeder behavior.
