Trash may be harsh, but it’s as mid as it gets, maybe a 5/10 album. My first jay z album was vol 1 and I’ve bought every album ever since and the last 2 before 4:44 were pretty much unlistenable as far as I was concerned. I genuinely though he’d lost it until 4:44 dropped
Honestly, I just might be biased towards BP3 lol
It was the first album era I got to witness as being a hardcore Hov fan so I def have sentimental feelings towards that album
But I feel you. It’s a different album and not for everyone
But it’s actually pretty consistent IMO
Love this song man
S*** is so chill and heartwarming to me for some reason. Kanye did his damn thing on the beat
It’s just a feel good song and Hov being humble while hyping himself up is so dope
It’s just a classic Hov song to me
It always hits
I couldn't agree more. Classy production brought to us by none other than Mr. West. It almost feels like the spiritual prequel of Watch the Throne. The only thing missing was a fire Ye verse, but who needs that when Hov is rapping like this?
& i’m not sure how i feel about 444 being above reasonable doubt
i’d personally put it rd, bp, tba, & then 444
The Nas album thread made me realize Street's Disciple wasn't so bad after all. Now MCHG? These are our heroes!

Yeah that’s what I suspect with this album, it’s a lot of peoples first jay album. Maybe that’s why I hold volume 1 in such high regards. Jay is a top 3 artist for me, I just can’t listen to this album though, I mainly just remember him Talking about how many number one albums he’s had and comparing it to Elvis and the Beatles thank you is a great track though and I can see why people would FW this album when you’re judging it against albums that dropped in a similar time period (like Drakes debut)

beach is better being 15 secs long is a crime against humanity
seeing people sneaking drake into a best discog convo is hilarious lol
In what way? I’m positive if you ask most people if they would take drakes albums, singles, mixtapes, features, loosies vs another rapper that the vast majority would pick drake
Only Wayne can compete
beach is better being 15 secs long is a crime against humanity
I'm still upset about this.

my first few listens of MCHG were much better received than 4:44
4:44 grew and it's a more concise, consistent project. that and american gangster probably fights for my 5th spot
I hope Hov brings more energy next time around. Listening to 4:44 after KD3 made me feel like I was going in slow motion.
actually i decided 2 listen 2 kingdom come cuz it’s been a while & this is actually the album i think has a bit of unwarranted hate
like he’s not rapping as good as he usually did but it’s not that bad
