For a person with his stature in current hip-hop I would say yes. Reason being he doesn't take so much from the current sound or underground to the point where it's practically biting/pandering (Drake) and he doesn't strip so much from the contemporary sound were it comes off as rudimentary or cheese (Cole). He for better or worse is able to pick production that fits into the model of what is currently hot while at the same time sounds quintessentially Kendrick.
