Africans don’t really see themselves as being in allegiance with American black ppl. Granted Tyler is an American national and ig his mother is too, he still seems to identify with his father by not mixing with the social interests of American black ppl.
I hate when people say this lol
I remember there was a trend where Haitians would claim every other Black celebrity was part Haitian.
lol ppl thought Future was Haitian back then too
he does reference Haiti / Little Haiti a lot in his music though

I remember being a younger Wayne stan and seeing those rumors circle around for him when he spoke on the Haiti Earthquake right before going to jail.
his ears are big as hell tho, that's not self hate it's a fact
Read what he said again. It's not just cracking on his dad or saying he has big ears, he had the idea that he had ugly features because of his Nigerian father. Its obvious where it stems from, but that's still self hate

Ngl reallly common hotep/ black trumpist talking point
whats up w that paranthetical
people were calling IGOR a rip-off album when they found out a lot of the songs used samples
It's so funny bc his fanbase today is exactly the types who would cancel him over that s*** lmao i wonder if they just don't know about it
I'm waiting for the day a Twitter thread about Tyler and Gambino's lyrics really catches steam
Not that I dislike either of them or their music, I just want to see how the corporations and big names behind them would react
his only mention of being nigerian isn't exactly in a positive light
!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QIuIdZ_L4iYMom was only twenty when you ain't have any f***s to spare
You Nigerian f***, now I'm stuck with this s***ty facial hair
not on good terms w/ dad
classic song
Does Jim Jones ever mention his Aruban/Puerto Rican background?
he has aruban bg?

Its happened multiple times w Tyler already like even in the past couple of years there have been big threads with all his stuff and he usually responds and says he doesn’t care about people bringing up old stuff

and big ears mainly a white trait

oh i thought it was specifically bc they weren't samples and the album was branded as completely produced by tyler, but almost all the songs' chord progressions and melodies were "borrowed"

ok so interpolations
same s***, who cares

This is true i dont think africans even consider themselves black

yea the thing is when it's a sample yk there's not rlly any trickery like u can tell what part was borrowed and what part is from the artist, but in tyler's case he deliberately avoided samples and then marketed the entire thing as original tyler production.
also, interpolation means putting like a lick or a lyric or some other little bit of a different song into ur own original song.
Id say straight up ripping the entire chord progression and melody and groove of a song isn't exactly interpolation.
I’m not sure he’s addressed anything about his father in a positive way. This was OF days, but he talked about wanting to change his name and such, lose the okonma.
Seems like the kind of thing he would have grown out of by now tho.

Tyler did that to himself by putting “produced written and arranged by Tyler” and after years of s***ting on sampling and being the “chords” guy
I love sampling but even I kind of feel a way about it. The sampling isn’t very creative and he kind of passes it off as original if you didn’t know better.
CMIYGL is even worse, the fact he was credited as the sole producer for Lumberjack is a crime, and most of his fans don’t know where the beat came from they think Tyler made it, because again he put “produced arranged written” by himself which just isn’t accurate

do producers usually credit their samples?
and didnt tyler tell stevie or someone that he steals all his chords from him

Yes they do
Yes they do
should the original producer of the lumberjack sample get a production credit on the song?
cuz ive never seen harry fraud, the alchemist, kanye, etc. give production credits to the sample they used
for example college dropout credits on spotify show every song as "produced by Kanye" with no credit to any samples even if its super prominent

All the samples are credited
He did when Virgil passed
What he say. I know he’s mentioned it here and there in a few bars
