Do u want me to disrespect Bruno? The nigga makes heaters. But he’s disco, while able is way more dynamic.

Versace on the floor came for Abel’s whole discography with a single blow.

But high for this almost puts Bruno back in his clown box.

Candy is a f***in classic, but it ain’t Whitney, dog. Not saying Abel vs Bruno is that lopsided, but one guy is closer to whitney while the other is closer to cameo. Not bad places to be for anybody.

What i will say about Bruno is he makes coke music sound like a fun night out with friends while weeknd makes it look like a DARE commercial sometimes.

i was only going off of what you wrote homie. you called bruno "pure blind ignorant pop cheese" and then linked Candy to say that's how seriously people take bruno. do you not see how someone reading that would take that as a slight? it almost implies Candy is pure blind ignorant pop cheese. this post isn't the same energy as the one i quoted at first lol

but seems it was a misunderstanding, so all good

  • KingOfPop

Just say you hold Abel to a different standard and go lmao

Word, bro. The nigga whylin and I will admit that I hold Abel to a different standard, and for me it’s because he raps so well. Yes, it’s the raps for me, bro.

But when Bruno corny ass dropped 24k, I had to give it to him. He went from some short nigga to tugging on the coats of the greats.

Ppl need to appreciate evolution. It’s a part of every great story.

Sometimes I forget ppl don’t have the same connotations for certain words that I do.

I love pop and I love cheese. You absolutely cannot be great without cheese. U must cheese ppl to be great. Somebody somewhere thinks something is wrong and corny. If u believe in yourself, u gotta cheese em.

But I have a problem with too much cheese. The type that relies too much on following tradition rather than carving your own lane.

Cameo and Bruno lack the emotional edge and innovation of guys like Weeknd and Michael.

Not that u need it. But it makes for a great story.

I think just off his ability to innovate in ways that are captivating, ppl will care about Abel’s story more.

great post, i understand what you mean much more clearly now. in comparing the two it seems like you're being harsher than you actually are but i gotcha now. i like cheesy pop s*** too but yeah i agree with you in a way.

    I do

I hold him at a much higher standard than Bruno. If Weeknd made Uptown Funk, I'd prob say its ass

but that song is respectable relative to Brunos music

i hear you. i have to dig in more to the songwriting of After Hours. i really don't listen to it at all apart from the title track and Escape From LA. you talking the album as a whole, or are there some key tracks you saw that growth? (in regard to lyrics/songwriting)

songs like Scared to live, After Hours, and Escape from L.A show Weekends growth themes to me.
even a song like In your Eyes
Scared to live's concept about trying to let someone go cause you know you're no good for them. draining someones innocence and purity just because they're to attached and in love with you even though you know they can do better and shouldn't be afraid to leave and live their life with someone els.
You always miss the chance to fall for someone else (someone else)
'Cause your heart only knows me
They try to win your love, but there was nothing left (nothing left)
They just made you feel lonely (oh)
I am not the man I used to be
Did some things I couldn't let you see
Refused to be the one who taints your heart

Weeknd pen game is on another lvl and im not even going to go into Snowchild cause there are entendres and references up the wazoo on there.

yeah i forgot about Scared To Live that's definitely a very mature record.

i'll be sure to pay closer attention to the lyrics rather than the production whenever i play it next

Cried thru this whole album. Weekend’s tears are just more mature than Bryson’s at this point. The way I cry to always forever, I can’t see myself playin that in the whip with shorty.

But the songs that made me cry on AH are songs I can’t still break shorty back to

Edit: scared to live is corny and I hate it and skip it, but when it catches me, I’ll sing that Disney s*** word for word like let it go

Pretty wild to me that 24K Magic gets so much hate on here...9 songs and no skips personally (maybe Straight Up & Down)

24k magic sounds good as f***, but i literally don't give af about Bruno Mars,

I'll go and listen to like the whole weeknd discography if i feel like it, I'd have to be strapped down to do that with Bruno's.

Abel tries to be Bruno, but he throws in some pretentious promo about how he doesn't watch movies, he watches FILMS at the CINEMA and dorks eat it up

    Lmaoooo

  • Oct 15, 2020

Abel creatively > Bruno creatively and that’s just facts. If you can’t accept that get a grip LMAO. With that said, they’re both kings that deserve their own merits and have dropped nothing but classics their entire careers.

    We Didnt Like That

Why do you assume people force themselves to hate someone before considering the possibility that they actually don't like someone's music? I think it's a bold claim to say we've all heard the weeknd and Frank Ocean more than let's say a Partynextdoor, Miguel, Bryson Tiller or Khalid. Sure the weeknd is on radio more so people might hear a song or two there but Frank definitely hasn't released much music to garner interest outside of people who were already in his circles. I think you overestimate their impact outside of the forums and blogs they've both been hyped up in for years.

It's sad to say but in R&B rn I don't think there's a major figurehead just because of the over saturation. It's hard to make a big impact without having to mix in pop or rap. Some of the best songs aren't even from full time singers, just rappers like Drake or Post Malone who aren't fully focused on R&B as a genre.

The bold claim was a hyperbole. Anyway I agree with your last point. R&B is mixed when it used to be sorta gatekept.
