I can definitely see why in the current cultural context people doing Asian accents is often rooted in some sort of racism.
The line is definitely thin when it comes to doing accents like that because you can have some sort of subconscious bias/reason you feel comfortable doing an accent like that and not know it. That's why I still consider that sort of s*** in bad taste. Still wouldn't say that sort of stuff is inherently racist.
Racism against Asians and other minorities in general has been the "cultural context" of America since it's inception my brother. You're correct in that it's all rooted in subconscious feelings of superiority and dehumanization.
No one ever mocks someones accent trying to be friendly or nice. Some people aren't socially aware and do it out of pure ignorance, but keeping it a buck with you Asians have been culturally under attack in this country since the beginning.
People were making laws against marrying Asian people, etc etc

He was being a d*** and once again F*** OP for insulting our intelligence acting like non-white people just don't get humor/context or whatever
