  • comparing ai to sampling is one of the stupidest arguments ever, genuinely kinda anti-hip hop

some s*** you'd read on reddit about how sampling is just copying another song or something. none of the nuance about how a song can be flipped into something completely different

ai is just full on stealing sounds with no creative bone put into it

what if you took an ai generated sample done with none copy written/stolen data and then flipped it like a regular sample into something new?

epps the most ignorant mediator for this conversation tho .. like damn, stop interjecting
kinda sad hearing cube's labored speech but at least hes acc thinking here

dre feel like he smartest one in the room advocating for ai w no nuance

and he deflee showed his hand @ the end by turning the conversation into having complete autocratic control over the artist and profiting off his own likeness w.o having to put in any work to do so; a wretched capitalist thru n thru s.o hov

i believe opn did something like this for one of his latest records, i dont understand it but i dont see an issue with it beyond just the basic premise of using generative ai but it's not a war crime to do so

lowkey this facts tho, even if many points of the anger is justified lol

also creatives are most likely going to be the least impacted by ai, which is also hilarious.

all these people worried about ai gen prompts cutting into their fav artist’s furry commissions, as if they wont be out of their mindless job in like 10 years

yea i hate to say it but ai can be used as an amazing tool without sacrifing creative decision making that’s essential to the integrity of art making

yeah i agree. the issues with ai imo are that the companies do not follow the law and arent prosecuted for it, not the tech itself.

stolen data, no environmental protections, huge lifestyle changes for society without people voting on it, it being used in weapons in illegal wars etc.

its just this massive policy failure that will be studied extensively in the future, to see how why it happened and how to prevent it again.
the tech itself it just a computer running code. its completely neutral.

as far as ai art goes, it will just be its own genre of art, like photography vs oil painting that will coexist fine with the rest.

I would be much, much more worried about so many iother things relating to the tech than its impact on art. lol human art has survived much more perilous things than some trendy computer code.

in my creative process right now though, i dont see any reason to use it and it doesnt inspire me at all. I would rather keep doing things the old fashioned way

the law will catch up, only after a select few cashes out with everyone’s retirement lol
