lowkey this facts tho, even if many points of the anger is justified lol

also creatives are most likely going to be the least impacted by ai, which is also hilarious.

all these people worried about ai gen prompts cutting into their fav artist’s furry commissions, as if they wont be out of their mindless job in like 10 years

na its this fakedeep nothingburger of a statement that doesnt rly prove anything. theres just as many creatives madly entrenched in defending said 'tool' built on exploitation or conversely, peers who'v been vocal about it extracting their existing work

'least impacted' feels like conjecture considering wat we've already witnessed happen in the entertainment industry over just half a decade. theres also an undercurrent to this pov that devalues what the consumer has to say about their own media landscape and ultimately still argues the point that whether its blue collar labor or the arts, the roughshod implementation of ai w.o real oversight threatens human autonomy

Dre is in deep like timbo taking about what’s wrong with creating an artist

    It’s a money issue

eh generally speaking in the creative profession im in, people are more optimistic about it than the general population on the internet.

like i said ealrier the issues with ai are companies breaking that law, through copyright infringement among many other things.

    it is what it is.

and least impacted def matters since there will always be creative jobs and many many other jobs will be fully replaced

but i onyl work in the entertainment industry, what do i know.

and people who dont make stuff def have a less important opinon on how stuff is made. even if many of their complaints are valid and theyre entitled to one. just like my opinions on engineering dont mater as much as an engineers obviously lol
we should give extral attention to people who discuss their life’s work as opposed to a random person.

agree with your last point though, ai implementation without oversight has been one of biggest policy failures, if not the biggest, since the nuclear bomb was invented

jus cus this is how things r doesnt mean thats how it ought2b. ur anecdotal perspective while valuable is only one side of the story and even then im sure not everyone in ur field thinks the same

the point was never that creative jobs disappear altogether but that the quantity and quality of them are diminished through unregulated competition w automation, whether that means livable wage .. length of contract .. polishing ideas the general public find imaginatively bankrupt, etc

& i disagree w ur last sentence. imo art and the creative process only achieve value w feedback, whether its ur own/fellow artists or that of a laymen audience

everyone in my field def does not think this. I made a huge generalization.

personally, i dont like most of what ai does for the arts in the present, ethics aside, but do see usecases like rigging where it can be helpful.

yeah some select creative jobs will diminish, while others will flourish, as far like large film companies and whatnot go.

my real prediction is as some jobs are replaced with ai in large companies, it opens up the door for indepedant smaller companies to compete with large budge movies, by being able to use certain ai tools for VFX, rigging, pshyics simulation etc.(which no human wants to do anyway lol, that s*** not fun)
and with more independant companies, employment will rise back to normal.

Im skeptical it will impact indepedant artists (the fine arts) too much, if at all, because of the huge demand for human made art, espcially none-digital art.

but other jobs WILL most likely be completely replaced. and ive always felt the focus on its impact on the arts is almost a psyop to distract people from the REAL impact it will have on the job market.

also we can agree to disagree, personally i only make art for myself and it has an equal value whether a billion people like it or im the only one that has ever seen it. Which i think is why it resonates with people ironically.

if consumers want to give it their own meaning and enjoy it in their own way, thats wonderful and makes me very happy. but its a complete afterthought.

and if it has value to me in a vaccum, who is someone else to say that for it have meaning, someone else has to say it has meaning? that doesnt make any sense.

gen AI is what sampling haters think sampling is

    Who are these sampling haters???

even more reason to hear him…

    Who are these sampling haters???

dunno if there are any on this forum but i'm talking about folks who disrespect sampling as an art

  • relapsed bisexual

comparing ai to sampling is one of the stupidest arguments ever, genuinely kinda anti-hip hop

some s*** you'd read on reddit about how sampling is just copying another song or something. none of the nuance about how a song can be flipped into something completely different

ai is just full on stealing sounds with no creative bone put into it

The process of moving from an a***og workflow to digital DAWs from the late 90s-early 2000s really did a number on boomers/Gen X. They see everything from that same lens of "getting left behind" with absolutely no nuance

I don’t want to watch this but I thought Dre was just cool with how AI can be used to get the stems from songs. Is he also pro “computah make a 60’s style King Von song”

Oh dont worry after AI makes it possible for people to play switch 2, ps5, and ps6 games on your computer it’s gonna all of a sudden be a BIGGGG push for strict AI regulation @Tuneout

the future is local models thats why sam Altman is so pissed about dudes with ram in they computers

but we're still some years away from being able to buy in to serious local ai for under 3k

  • i wish our musical legends never found podcasts because it only further sours their longstanding relationship to music and to the youth who’s supposed to be sampling and keeping their voices alive, to quote Ice Cube. these niggas keep destroying their legacies one podcast episode at a time smdh
