His kamala harris point just f***ed me up
Yang getting push in 2024 too stay woke
He often criticizes homosexuality and black women and links it to being the destruction of our community.
He kept going for years about this all-black boy school he tries to crowdfund but offered no plans, no ideas, or really no incentive that most....well school initiations have in order to convince people that this is something to invest in. Then claimed that he had a high profile nba athlete put a milli in, only to lose it once Umar got exposed for texting a stripper (which is funny, considering his whole respectability politics thing that he has going on)
He's just a Tariq Nasheed-like with better vocabulary. But literally most of those people that we all got introduced to through Hidden Colors (and I should know, I went through a 5 month period sophomore year of college when I was following that s*** like it was the BIBLE. So cringe.) are just grifters. Claim they "the leaders" of the black people but they only talk in a patriarchal vision. Which wasn't cool back in the 60s, so why would it be cool now?
Valid point. I don't view these mfers are "leaders". They're nothing more than talking heads to me but I more respect that he has the balls to say what he says at all.
Obviously homophobia and s*** isn't cool but besides indepedent black media outlets he and unfortunately Tariq are the only ones(with enough pull to get on radio outlets like this) who are willing to bring these issues pertaining to black people to light. He's a necessary evil imo but we can dead it now. appreciate you typing that out
When you live in a country that goes out of it's way to s*** on you specifically you're going to be a little bitter/jaded.
He goes really hard on the LGBT s*** for no reason I can see why that'd turn some ppl off. Not even a big fan of the dude personally but i like him better than Envy or CTG
That’s an explanation, definitely
But not an excuse
He brings certain things to light which is great, but he distracts from his own message way too often
Understandable. You gotta be black and not racist to really get what he's saying
His portrayal of Asians as the "model minority" is playing right into white people's hands though. He's literally being anti Asian

there's nothing he brings to light that already wasn't common knowledge if you just read a book by any black sociology books written between 1970 and 2010 if we keeping it a buck.

It's happening in real time; I don't see it as playing it into white peoples hand he's just calling it as he sees it.
Umar be right about some s*** and some s*** he be way too militant but I understand his viewpoints and why hes that way
like always he had some decent points but the way he be talkin has me crackin up every time lmao

Basically
And that’s dangerous

My gf is biracial, and she and I had an hour long conversation with her mom, who is black, about why she (her mom) didn't feel entirely sympathetic to the Asian struggle right now, primarily because she felt like asian people didn't stand for black causes in the past. But we have to understand that Asians make up a very small portion of America and therefore are not very visible, and even then there was plenty of Asian support last summer during the protests. Asian/black tensions in the 90s-00s were crazy but we have to let that go.

I'm not disagreeing. I'm not even blaming asians for this. They most likely appreciate the push from Biden/The US Gov. but this is more criticism of America's systematic oppressions of blacks as a whole than dissing asians. Good insight tho
