It's already canon. Toyotaro literally does a briefing of it and did a drawing of Goku and Vegeta fighting Broly before the Moro arc in the manga. The Moro arc takes place a month or 2 after the Broly movie.

People are speculating that his hair isn't black. Because of how the shading is on his hair, it depicts that it's some kind of color there. It's not just Black.
