I think itās just his face shape combined with his eyes. He has a kind of sister quality to him.
Also, I dug the purple. It popped. This design just feels so muted by comparison.
Seems like they drew back from the darker edge that the original version seemed to be hinting towards as well?
Unfortunately gotta say Iām less interested after this reveal lol. Doesnāt help the development was restarted. Will still be copping but they can take their time with it at this point.

I would have to agree, particularly with the title change as well. Still probably too early to say for sure but thatās how Iām feeling rn
I'm just a casual fan of DQ so this was cool to me but it seems reddit is mad
(when arent they though)
He does look very young. Maybe he'll grow up like Ocarina Link or Clive in FF16. Do DQ games ever do that?

They kindāve eluded to it.
Aside from the obvious name change, I think theyāve probably dropped the darker/mature tone & new battle system maybe.

Weāve been waiting so long & just got that. I get the disappointment.
It sounds like they're definitely not going for the "Darker and more Mature" direction anymore.
Personally I am glad about that. Because I was just confused as to what that even entailed for DQ.
Imo, the games can already get pretty dark. And a lot of the stories being told were already quite mature imo. So it just made me think "What does 'mature' mean to them???"
Like.... was that them saying the game was going to have blood, profanity, death and s***scenes?? FF16 was the more "Mature" Final Fantasy game, and that's what they did. I just dont think that is the direction i would have wanted DQ to go in, if that's what they meant by "more mature"

yeah he either need a bald fade or the toriyama no in between
Now that i rewatched some of the stream, DQ12 may not be AS far out as we expect.
Yuji Horii specifically says āi hope we can get the new Dragon Quest Monsters game(the one they announced too) out before DQ12ā.
Iā canāt imagine they would show off a DQ Monsters YEEEEEEEARS ahead of release like a mainline game. So i have to imagine if heās going āhopefully its out before 12ā that would mean DQ12 isnāt, like , so far off we canāt see the light at the end of the tunnel

I think people are overreacting to the starting over or fresh start statement.
Iām sure that happened a long time ago, which is why we heard next to nothing.
I think itāll be sooner than folks expect.

Yeah. I think ppl forget that even when we got that DQ12:The Flames Of Fate teaser, that was probably at least a year or 2 in production at that point. Iām quite sure, if things went smoothly, they were planning on having that out by late 2023/early 2024.
I would have to imagine that the current version of DQ12 likely started in like 2023. On top of that, even tho they āstarted overā i would guess that they're still using a lot of character designs and models, new monster designs/models, and environmental assets from the original iteration.
Theyre not just rebuilding every single asset from scratch.
Then on top of that, when they say ānot coming soonā, or āits a while awayā, thats subjective. They canāt guess the date that DQ fans have in mind. I saw one big JRPG youtuber predict that DQ12 will be their holiday 2026 DQ release. If their goal for DQ12 is Holiday 2027, they may just consider that a long wait for fans.

They canāt be for real with this.
the art is fire not to sold on the ingame look yet lol but the world looks beautiful
