Just got Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age can't wait to start playing. Is it a good place to start for a newcomer to the series? Is it good and which other games in the series should i get into. It got my interest because i love Akira Toriyama and the game got great reviews.

DQ11 is a perfect start to the series, its where i got my start too. Most of the DQ games are fairly similar, with DQ8 probably being the next best one to play. Other games worth checking out would be DQ4/DQ5 (DS ports) and DQ1/DQ3 (translated SNES ports)

Cool it can be a bit overwhelming knowing where to start in a series with so many titles.

DQ V is the most popular in the franchise bc you can pretty much control monsters in that joint and DQ IV is also a fan favorite too of most loosely followed behind the trilogy.
After putting almost 100 hours into DQ11 on the PS4, I'm really sad that I don't have a Switch in order to play the updated version. When I first found out about all the QoL improvements on the Switch one, I was so mad lol. It sucks that none of them will likely ever be patched into the PS4 version
I'll never forget i asked for Dragon Quest Swords: The Masked Queen and the Tower of Mirrors on Wii for my birthday when I was a kid. Was still young so I wasn't checking reviews at the time and I loved DQ8 so much I I thought it was gonna be the same. Started the game on Sunday morning finished it on Sunday afternoon never bought another game without reading reviews first after that

Been wanting to. I also bought both Ni no Kuni games during that same sale, so I was tryna debate which one(s) to start... ended up not playing any of them
Probably gonna start XI soon
Dragon Quest XI was one of the funnest games I've ever played
I gave it a break in the post-game just before fighting Calasmos, i plan to finish it sometime soon though
i rly hope they bring an optimized Dragon Quest Heroes 1&2 to Switch though
