Find me some other rap reviews from this year where the reviewer is critiquing the artist as a person cause I didn't read any

    Besides some Tory reviews lol

Jesus is King review by Anthony Fantano was mostly Fantano saying that he was crazy and basically critiquing how true he was to Christianity and his faith lol, picking apart a man’s faith more so than the music. That kind of thing has definitely been present in Kanye reviews since 2016

Most pitchfork reviews are guilty of this, it’s always been a critique that their reviews focus more on who an artist is than the actual music

But you also didn’t just say the ā€œas a personā€ part, you said no one tells other artists what music to make either. That’s really the sillier part of your post but I see you’re not really doubling down on that one.

Still when an artist is as big as drake i don’t think it’s very uncommon

Tbh he was though, like Take Care, So Far Gone, etc were all fairly relatable but I feel he's in the position now where he doesn't really have anything substantial to rap about.

Possibly but i can argue it’s the same realm as it’s always been but exploring new ways to talk about that realm. I mean songs like ā€œpipe downā€ are the most relatable s*** for people even though its ā€œfamiliarā€ territory

Also are some of you who can’t relating to drake music losers or something ? You gotta relate to some of the love based / relationship s***. Or even the loyalty / friendship / ambition content? 🤣

    I love this album

But accusing people of being losers for NOT liking this one is an interesting angle

Father Time is your example loool. Drake got a bunch of songs and lyrics deep diving on family. Way more than Kendrick who just really opened up this album. We know drake whole family and all their issues and trauma through his music 😭

Y’all just like to feel superior listening to music and it’s so pretentious. Most of us can enjoy balance in music. Enjoy different pockets for what they are. Most of these super conscious artists are just selling that because they know the market . They don’t even sound profound in any way

Drake gave us a grandiose, braggy hip hop album which also had sprinklings of recent social issues (abortion rights, women’s rights), label politics, friendship, love, lust etc etc

    I never said he didn't?

I clearly said he was very relatable back in the day lol.

Plus I enjoy this album quite a bit, I'm not gonna parade him for doing the bare minimum with those odd few lines sprinkled with blatant toxicity.

Your initial post was pretty shallow lol, Moral has a lot of content on there and I don't think there's anything wrong with people opting for that over braggadocios rap albums.

Hooks, immaculate production, and catchy flows stick with you for years just as long as "thought provoking" music does

I didn’t say anything about not liking the album. I was referring to people saying to not being able to relate to anything

Some of drake talk I see average people laughing and relating to because it’s just funny relatable s*** that happens day to day. ā€œI know them type of hugsā€ a good example

It was always known that drake gave nerds the easy way out with the political angle on this album

Made Fantanos job so much easier with that one Meg bar

Yeah I'm not hating bro, I just find I don't return to these new albums as much as I did with his prior ones. Music doesn't have to be relatable, but it's nice when the content is different from album to album.

Not sure how you don't critique an artist when critiquing their albums. Whatever state of mind their in contributed to making the album

    True

Idk if I’m seeing the loser connection that much then. Cause this is drakes loser album, and if loser was a term in 2011 then TC would be loser music too
