Yeah this is why itās baffling to me. It seems like heās gotten more immature as time has progressed, Iāve never seen that with an artist before.
Usually the older an artist gets, the more serious the themes in their music becomes.
And itās not that heās the type of artist who separates his personal growth from his music because thatās the exact opposite of who Drake is as an artist; heās said himself his music is like updates on his life
Champagne Poetry, The Remorse, 7 AM on Bridle, F***ing Fans, that's not serious? Those aren't updates on his life?

Music is much broader than being hype/serious. Drake does things Kendrick never has done and probably never will and vice versa. They're just different artists. Also just because Drake is not conscious or political, doesn't mean the music doesn't have any emotional impact. And to suddenly expect it from him feels unfair. I love both of them for different reasons.
Like @2words said "Look What You've Done" hits home for me also lots of his songs are my go-tos when I happen to feel heartbroken or something. S*** lowkey helped me survive my teenage years.
Expecting a specific type of album from an artist, just because you're in a different position and mindset in life feels unfair too. Would I like him to hear his "matured and settled" outlook on life on albums? Sure. But if it's not going to happen then so be it, sometimes I will feel it, sometimes I will not that's life. At least I still got Take Care and Nothing Was The Same that are tied to my teenage memories and I can still listen to them and feel what I felt back then.

I didnāt say he wasnāt giving us updates. The point is that people say āwell an artistās music isnāt reflective of their real lifeā, but Drake has said several times for himself that is not the case.
Also, those moments have been very few and far between since Views, and theyāre a lot more vapid and shallow then they were from SFG-Views, as someone else ITT pointed out as well
I feel like we havenāt gotten a verse this poignant from Drake in at least 5-6 years
Before I get attacked: I think Her Loss is a good album, this is not me saying itās bad
Not attacking you
But I just feel like, sometimes people just gloss over his discography and aren't really giving his discography the dive that it merits IMO because he's very much still this guy on every album
Challenge:
Put this on a playlist with 5 other Drake songs

Man you know they just be talking lol
If you read what I said, my argument isnāt that heās not giving us updates on his life.
Reading comprehension is important
They still taking about that Drake needs to be more mature lmao
Arenāt they tired of trying to prove a point that sounds delirious
Arenāt they tired of trying to prove a point that sounds delirious
It's always the same 3 people itt so nah they aren't tired
Idk who pissed Drake off for his More Mās verse but damn
And I know what I said bout bein in Vogue
But just like that R&B group from the '90s
Girl one call I'll get you in Vogue
One call you in runway shows
One call I'm sittin front row
Love that Jimmy Cooks callback
Man you know they just be talking lol
I think this is where Drake spreading himself so thin and being so prolific hurts him.
Liability off HN will be forgotten. Incredibly introspective
Champagne poetry is going to be forgotten
The Remorse is going to be forgotten
Pipe Down is going to be forgotten

Losses off DLDT
You can not like the music, but to say that he's stagnant and regressing from a source material perspective is factually just not true. He's still giving the people real life type s*** that go beyond the club and trap slaps.
They still taking about that Drake needs to be more mature lmao
And it's not even accurate.
Like I said, not liking the music is one thing.
But to say it isn't there is simply not true.

Iām not disagreeing with anything you said here.
My point was just that, as his career has progressed, heās gotten less and less introspective and emotionally deep with each project he releases.
There are still moments here and there, but it used to be one of the main factors of his music. Thatās not so much the case anymore.
Itās not necessarily a good or a bad thing, just an observation
They still taking about that Drake needs to be more mature lmao
This isnāt the argument at all. No oneās saying he āneeds to beā anything. Itās just an observation
alright, n95, humble, dna, all the stars, btch dont kill my vibe, loyalty etc.
kendrick def has more made more fun/hit type of songs than drake has made deep/thought-provoking songs so if anything IMO kdot is closer to doing both.
no one cares bro
the assignment for this tape with 21 wasnt to get pretentious kdot stans
no disrespect

i think its bc he had to seem beyond his years in the beginning to be interesting or captivating but now that hes already accomplished everything hes gotten lazy with his song writing.
even when hes gone through massive moments in his life in the past 4-5 years, hes barely made any music abt it. i dont think hes getting more immature, i just think he matured early for his age and then never matured anymore.

Tbh honest itāll only hurt him in this silly online debates. His work put in gonna reap all the benefits and legacy when people look back.

All Iām saying is, itās less common and more shallow than it used to be from him. You named 7 songs from 3 different projects, I can name 7 songs from one of his older albums that are more introspective with more emotional depth than most of those.
No oneās saying itās bad, itās just an observation
