Can someone catch me up on the legal implications of this stuff? I’m assuming laws don’t exist yet and that’s why the powers that be are scrambling to suppress and demonize AI songs (after hyping up everything else AI can do).

In the case for most ai, it's that they are trained using material that they don't license or pay or anything to use.
The ai being trained on the music is what's illegal. It may be different for the case of a voice filter made/assisted by ai, but that isn't likely in my opinion.

I care about the artistry
But sometime I just want something that sounds good
It’s like food.
Yes I like a well prepared meal and care about the ingredients. But sometimes I just want something that tastes good.
Same with music. Me wanting a quick song doesn’t take away my appreciation of the art.
Every time I hear a song I’m not saying to myself, “Man, I really appreciate the artistry behind this.
” Sometimes I’m like, “Shit slaps ”And please, yes we love Drake, but let’s not act like he always makes life altering music that makes us dig deep and decipher the meaning behind the lyrics. Yes he’s capable of making GREAT songs, but we’re not gonna act like the AI is THAT far off lol

Personally for me the line is drawn to the point I don't think I'll go to AI to listen to some deep s*** like Middle of the Ocean, but I'll definitely go to AI for a song like What's Next or Fair Trade. There's a pretty big difference between the 2
