That’s what holds me back from this decade’s drake .. 2011-2016 he was one of the best songwriters alive. The intimacy, the wordplay, it’s all gone. He has his moments sometimes but this man once wrote some good ass songs fr
This is how I feel about 2016+ Kanye
Nah its crazy how the only people hating are HipHopHeads users
Says everything about them and how their basement smells

made a playlist that put these on the rotation with the album

Had a first listen.
My initial thoughts is he definitely took a risk and experimented a lot on this one. Might rub some people the wrong way... f*** em!
Always enjoyed singing Drake just as much as the rapping, but this still feels so left-field for him on first listen. I never thought he would be singing over this type of stuff. Feels like Summer Games on steroids. One song I immediately thought of as I was listening to the beginning of the album. Something in is discography that is a little bit towards this type of stuff.
I feel like you have to be doing stuff hearing this album. Like this will be dope at a party during the summer, great timing, or when on a vacation type of s***. Just chilling and vibing by the pool or on a balcony around sun down.
Think I liked the second half a lot more than the first half. More "complete songs", if you get what I mean from Massive and so on.
Tie That Binds is a f***ing masterpiece. What a great song.

This album will outsell the first week’s of the entire year of hip hop thus far combined
This 100%. Ppl complaining about his vocals which I get but the bigger problem is the writing. So bland and void
saw some people comparing it 808s
But to me this is like his Yeezus or Big Fish Theory. Making sounds that are alternative in hip hop but with someone that's really popular in electronic music.
but only he can make a left turn like that feel like background music
I love Drake but this is some of his weakest writing. The writing was weaker on CLB compared to Scorpion too. I would be intrigued to hear him stick with this sound for another project though, it suits him. But it sounds like he's out of writing ideas these days
He was one of the best WHAT?
Man chill out he’s arguably one of the greatest songwriters OAT. Hits, album cuts, he has a deeeep discography

Summer Games literally has been my most listened song this past 2 weeks
U real as hell
his last album had great writing but y'all just quote gwg
Idk how you can listen to CLB then listen to NWTS or even IYRTITL and not see the contrast

https://twitter.com/pitchfork/status/1537849335387406337fantano review gonna be worse because he dropped the same day as his bud logic
Yeah every time it felt like there could be a moment for something interesting, he played it the most safe he could and end result is a very boring album (imo)
it felt like he was scared to let the songs truly drop or develop
The closest is the one with 'calling my name' sample on it

https://twitter.com/pitchfork/status/1537849335387406337I prefer when Drake raps, because he actually cares enough to make his verses good.
"I hate when Drake sings"
