overdrive and liability are the best records on here with a very large gap between them and the rest
Shut up, b****. JIK did less than 200M US streams. Take away it's bundles and it doesn't crack 170k units.
“Shut up, b****.”
Yes, some people don’t like, and there are also a lot of people that don’t like it for the reasons we’re saying.
Acting like hyper masculinity doesn’t exist and isn’t a problem within the black community is extremely ignorant
I'm not downplaying it in the community but to say that's why the majority of the black community doesn't like the album is stupid.
yo tel me why i just noticed he shouts out Imaan on Liek Im Supposed to
i aint realize he just calling shordy by they name in songs now
Got me relistening to this masterpiece

Drake's deal is most likely more about UMG retaining the rights to his masters (So Far Gone-Scorpion) for another 10 years than it is about his future projects lol.
People are probably wondering why Drake didn't go independent. Well, even if his masters are worth say $500M, he owns them and then what? Yeah, he makes more money off his music but AT MOST, he averages about $20-25M from his back catalog per year. Instead of that, he leaves it to UMG to own the rights to his back catalog for another 10 years (probably 2019-2029) and the price tag he puts on that is $600M.
UMG knows there's 0 chance they make that money back in 10 years but the deal is less about them profiting and more akin to an NBA Super Max deal than anything else. It's your franchise rewarding you for years of loyalty and performance, regardless of how you perform for the remaining years of your contract. That's why they can only giving a deal like this to someone like Drake (who has always been signed to them and who they've always had a very fruitful relationship with).
It's very likely that by the end of the decade, Drake takes back the rights to the masters of his catalog and does whatever he wants to do with them.
All in all, Drake is making more money from music now than he ever has before.
It is probably the smarter business move getting 600M directly that he could then invest and turn into even more money. Growing his company and wealth.
close mindedness is real
It’s really interesting because rap is easily the most forward thinking genre of music but it also has one of the most close-minded fanbases in music

Shame
in an era where all trap music sounds the same

All you gotta do is scroll on Twitter for a couple minutes and see what people are saying about this album and you’ll see what we’re referring to
in an era where all trap music sounds the same
And still manages to score higher than a guy whose mastered like 7 genres
in an era where all trap music sounds the same
And trap was seen as the counter-culture in rap 10-15 years ago… now we’ve reached a point where fans want trap and aren’t open to new sounds
If this ain't the truth. Nice way to end the review.
You don’t need to be a global citizen, have a credit score of 740, or a rooftop patio to enjoy Honestly, Nevermind, regardless of what Twitter says. Music, like life, doesn’t always have to be so serious. Artists should be critiqued when they don’t meet the high bar they’ve set for themselves, but the art should also be allowed to breathe. Love it or hate it, Drake already accomplished what he set out to do with Honestly, Nevermind by making his rap fans ignore the literal interpretation of the title and embrace the spirit of summer by trying to experience something new. He’s finally back to making music that he likes to hear when he’s at the club, and by following his heart and ear, has strung together one of his most authentic projects in recent years.
So far the excuses are:
-Didn't have bundles
-Surprise drop
-No Hype
-House Album
What else am I missing?
Zero promo. Announced a couple of hours before it dropped. Didn't send it out to critics before it dropped so they could give him perfect reviews. 14 Tracks. Experimental album. Last album still around top 10 most selling albums weekly.

A site with anonymity is never a good way to gauge something like that lol
Can y'all take the SALES talk to the SALES thread
We're tryna have fun in here

This is the way I’ve been feeling about this album and why I love it so much.
This is the first time in years where Drake has given us an album that actually sounds like HIM and sounds like he actually enjoyed creating it
