No such thing. If we followed that logic, a lot of music would not be created. People have to draw from the past to move forward. And sometimes people can do something as much or more justice than the source material.

Kendrick don’t make the hits Drake does. He sticks to that indie aesthetic whereas Drake evolved from it.

We’re not talking about money tho. That’s not in doubt.

We’re talking about artistic merit. At this point, dude could drop an entire album of poopity scoop and it would still go top of the charts. That’s not nothing to do with wherever people think it’s a good album and that it’s gonna stand the test of time.

I’m talking about an actual break. No albums, no mixtapes, no EP’s, no features, no nothing. Actually leaving and giving people time to miss him and for him to actually want to come back and deliver something special.

I hate how yall niggas be rewriting the rules in music when drake’s involved. Wave riding is a common thing in music lol. It’s not necessarily a bad thing ALL the time. Hell a lot of great artists did it. Ice cube, jay z, etc.

But he did ride the wave with that dancehall s***. That’s a fact lol. And that’s fine but we not gon rewrite history and act like he took a risk and did that lol

I just know Drake can't compete in this decade if he thinks he can coast of mediocre ass beats like he did in the last decade. Can't be the biggest dude in in the game but be making songs with lazy, wack production. It won't work.
