I get the dilemma for him, he’s at the top of the world and taking a musical sabbatical in his mind would be forfeiting the crown and the worry comes that he’s officially “fell off” but I think he could really benefit from a Frank Ocean type 4-5 years of radio silence and having enough life experiences and drive to success again to come back and channel that into a classic album.

I hate how yall niggas be rewriting the rules in music when drake’s involved. Wave riding is a common thing in music lol. It’s not necessarily a bad thing ALL the time. Hell a lot of great artists did it. Ice cube, jay z, etc.
But he did ride the wave with that dancehall s***. That’s a fact lol. And that’s fine but we not gon rewrite history and act like he took a risk and did that lol
I’m not rewriting the rules. I think it’s a silly rule in general and my same point applies to the guys you named. Just like I don’t think Drake is a wave rider, I don’t think Jay-Z is a wave rider. Because again, if we’re gonna go down that route, everybody who decided to build off of what Sugar Hill Gang did was wave riding.
And who else was making dancehall at the time besides the actual artists in that genre? Drake took a risk making that music and he made the genre mainstream again. Before that, there was just instances of it during the 00’s and late 90’s IIRC.
