He’s probably gonna want the song removed everywhere and also have UMG forced to give him x amount of dollars
This is why Kendrick winning those 5 Grammys was crucial.
They could take the song off every streaming platform today and ppl would still be talking about NLU and that Grammy moment 20 yrs from now. Once Kendrick won those Grammys I stopped caring what happens to the track.
I’ve got the mp3 and that’s all I need
The case is about whether UMG manipulated the performance of the song in an effort to boost untrue claims about Drake.
If it comes out that either: A. they used the same tactics for the song that they’ve used for Drake records his entire career, or B. they have actual evidence of the claims made in the song being wholly or at least partially true, then the entire case falls apart.
How they “look” isn’t the issue here
high unlikely they did the same s*** for Drake songs but sure we can agree there.
Their motion to dismiss clearly said that Drake is not a pdf and everyone on earth that's sensible knows what's in the song isn't true so now they somehow got evidence of his criminal activity in the song and buried it???
love when people with no legal background comment on here "but do you even have any legal training?"
we all putting fries in the bag but some acting like they professional lawyers
Funny watching Drake stans act like they’re anti-major label when just last year they were salivating at the idea of Drake & Lucian having their hands in the pots of every major rapper’s contracts
I take back everything I said. Drake won, UMG lost
🤣🤣
u Naija too
i feel like kanye being apart of the 20v1 is like u joining ur homie jumping someone u dont like then that nigga brings out a gun (NLU)
like we killing niggas?
says the guy liking my posts smh
i hate u

How is it highly unlikely? Anything is capable of being faked

You can pick and choose any comment regarding any celebrity, even the most popular ones, you'll always find haters, this doesn't really prove anything and just looks silly in a court document.
Celebrities not being entitled to the same level of privacy/protected from criticism to the same extent as a normal person is a concept accepted and applied in multiple jurisdictions around the world. A celebrity relying on social media comments in a defamation lawsuit is actually silly
Again, I heard about the Bella Harris s*** on a radio station in Africa when it happened. Millie Bobby Brown situation had people talking too
I don't disagree that a lot of the general public didn't know about it before the beef, but it was bigger than you're making it out to be. Big enough for Drake to mention on a diss track pre-emptively. If so few people knew about it, he shone the spotlight on it first. I know what you're about to say - "It wasn't on streaming, AI song" but this was after Like That, after Pushups, so people were invested in the beef and were waiting with baited breath for anything Kendrick/Drake related
We'll see how it plays out, but I don't think he's got a strong claim for defamation
Once again, I say ''small stories'' in the scope of the lawsuit - you should understand this if you are practicing. How well-known those stories were among the general public is the only thing that matters in a defamation lawsuit - before NLU, those stories didn't cause him financial and social damage. The song and UMG's involvement in pushing it has caused significant damage - as per the lawsuit. There's a before and there's an after and the difference is huge.
There is legal ground for the lawsuit but as I've said multiple times, it's UMG's case to lose
If defamation can be proven in court by social media comments then celebrities would be filing lawsuits literally every single day
yea I think that's what makes this case unique. He's not suing individuals, he's suing a corporation that 'knowingly distributed' fake news
BRAH UMG GOTTA DIE
I literally said the fabricated numbers are more likely to be true than actual crimes
Wouldn't that make the case stronger for drake

I do wonder if its less about privacy/criticism and more about disproving UMGs claims. UMG basically claimed that no reasonable person could believe Drake is actually a pedo, and Drakes team responded with "well heres a bunch of people, some must be reasonable, believing drake is actually a pedo"
I'm not a lawyer so I don't know how that stands the test of law, but it sort of makes sense to me in that context?

What financial and social damage has it caused him? I haven't read the papers and I'm not going to but I'm willing to be enlightened if you're going to use this condescending tone with me.
I also hope UMG ends his career for good and redirect that $700M to independent artists who actually deserve it.
so now they worried about something affecting his bag and reputation, after blasting that he is a pdfile for a whole year and killing his character
the audacity

I am not using a condescending tone, simply responding back in the same manner. You were initially dismissing my points despite our main conclusions being the same lol.
Funny watching Drake stans act like they’re anti-major label when just last year they were salivating at the idea of Drake & Lucian having their hands in the pots of every major rapper’s contracts
We anti UMG trying to defame the boy
When its all said and done he gone own all them rappers contracts and rename the label UAOVOMG
I am not using a condescending tone, simply responding back in the same manner. You were initially dismissing my points despite our main conclusions being the same lol.
"you should understand this if you are practicing" was unnecessary and sassy af. So I'm going to ask what financial and social damage has the song caused Drake? Should be easy to find in the papers
Lmao UMG said “don’t tell no lies about me, and I won’t tell truths about you”
unfortunately the public isn't who decides this time around tho
that's peace tho

ill try to answer genuinely and not condescending lmfao
iirc in the lawsuit it was mentioned he had his house shot, he had people break into his property, he had to move schools for adonis and he had his ovo stores vandalized, all post-beef.

That sentence came after you said ''I don't completely disagree with your post, but there's the usual falsifying and misrepresentations you do to defend Drake.''. You took it there. And I actually thought it was obvious for someone in the legal field that ''small stories'' was said in the context of the lawsuit. We all witnessed the beef and have seen old white people who aren't fans of hip-hop suddenly describe Drake with words from the beef.

The basis for defamation (and any delictual claim) is harm/loss suffered. Defamation is specifically harm/loss to reputation. Using social media posts about a celebrity as prove of harm/loss to their reputation is just shaky af imo
Accounts linked to popular podcasts, sports teams etc, maybe. But even then, it's a celebrity involved in a massive beef that was dominating public discourse so of course those accounts are posting about it
