It's going to be tough for him to link those to the song and specifically to UMG promoting it, thereby popularizing the narrative that he's a pdf. Causation is an element that has to be proven, it's not enough to say "These happened after NLU dropped, that's the cause and UMG is liable"

And I actually thought it was obvious for someone in the legal field that ''small stories'' was said in the context of the lawsuit. We all witnessed the beef and have seen old white people who aren't fans of hip-hop suddenly describe Drake with words from the beef.

They were not “leveraged to defame Drake”. The song was popular, and they were doing their due diligence as any other record label would and promoted it. Labels can’t differentiate marketing budgets based on the content of a song. If it’s popular, it’s gonna get pushed.

Therefore, if it comes out that UMG has done the same for Drake and other artists as they did for NLU, then the court will decide that it’s standard practice for them when it comes to marketing records rather than a targeted attempt to defame Drake
