    This whole other version of Drake, and Wayne was right for giving him that advice. But as long as he was affiliated with Wayne, he had that street cred, in the industry, and with his audience. He had plenty of tough talk moments in his music.

    It seems like as soon as he broke off from YM, he felt like a target, which led him to where he is now.

    Drake has probably pissed too many people off behind the scenes to feel safe if he doesn’t hide behind his goons

    I agree, he actually would've been bigger if he would've stuck to doing media and focusing on being a real Pop act. Alot of the industry didn't respect him for throwing shots behind YMCMB/Wayne. Dude was trying to slick talk on Jay on songs, and Jay had to set up a meeting with him during NWTS era lol.

    CLB was massive in 2021.

    In 2009 thru maybe 2011 he could make songs like Ignorant S***, Little Bit and Im Goin In and thats why thats his most beloved era

    2012-2013 he started to dabble with it and then Meek beef pushed it over the top. But to be fair he’s human and any nigga who grew up like he did on the outside of truly being “one of the guys” would over indulge like he did lol

Just another situation of him trying to inherit Wayne's beefs, with him throwing sneak shots at Jay during C4/Take Care era.     I think people underestimate how much of this likely starts at deciding to stay in Toronto and be very accessible.. it’s normal for rappers to be extorted at home.. that’s step one into pulling you into a world you’re not from. Then that goes on long enough.. how blurred is the line between extortion and these are the guys around me all the time, they’re my friends, and I employ them.. what really is the difference at that point between a “mob boss” and someone in drake’s position.. I think a lot of people think the guy it all trickles down from is the hardest in the gang.. doing dirt themselves or have ever done dirt. Not enough “benefit of the doubt” for how confusing and alienating being in this position would be..
