This whole other version of Drake, and Wayne was right for giving him that advice. But as long as he was affiliated with Wayne, he had that street cred, in the industry, and with his audience. He had plenty of tough talk moments in his music.
It seems like as soon as he broke off from YM, he felt like a target, which led him to where he is now.
Drake has probably pissed too many people off behind the scenes to feel safe if he doesn’t hide behind his goons
How was that “tough guy” status? It was a dumb party song
This nigga loved them Nike tech gloves when tryna look tough in a video got E-40 crew there like they his hittas. Is that Berner? Why bro next to him got the baggiest jeans tucked into the tightest of boots?

No it wasn’t that he just wanted to cosplay as a mafia boss

Dude is the definition of an industry thug,. It was either hire gangs/thugs to have his back or retire early imo. He played it as smart as he could, for the type of dude he is.
Imagine saying Billie when Megan Fox is standing next to her
Billie always gave off one of the bros type vibes, I don’t find her sexy at all. Not saying she’s ugly. Just her whole vibe is more one of the bros type s***
These niggas weirdos man Megan is a woman Billie be lookin like a nigga

She dress like a nigga but doesn’t look like one lol

Cmon man y'all all acting like Drake would of been logic status if he didn't go gangsta
Dude would of still been safe & successful as f***.
Prolly even more on some Travis Scott s***. He would of been able to move product more cause the average consumer would see themselves in him.
Nobody was trying to kill Drake before the switch nobody trying to harm him after.

Drake grew up listening to hov and pac
Scott is a emo punk who vibes with cudi and ye post donda death
It’s all part of the conditioning the music played in both they lives drake sees more himself in a thug shoes bc its what he manifested since he’s a schizo paranoid talking bout the higher up entities out to get him. You’re comparing apples to oranges my guy

I agree, he actually would've been bigger if he would've stuck to doing media and focusing on being a real Pop act. Alot of the industry didn't respect him for throwing shots behind YMCMB/Wayne. Dude was trying to slick talk on Jay on songs, and Jay had to set up a meeting with him during NWTS era lol.
Not everyone was that nice about his s***
WATTBA opened a whole new avenue for bro in 2015.
Scorpion was one of the biggest albums of 2018.
CLB was massive in 2021.
He could've kept it Canadian but let's not act like jumping off the porch in his 30's didn't further his career even more, however y'all feel about that lol
How did it help him, nothing really changed for him because he did that
In 2009 thru maybe 2011 he could make songs like Ignorant S***, Little Bit and Im Goin In and thats why thats his most beloved era
2012-2013 he started to dabble with it and then Meek beef pushed it over the top. But to be fair he’s human and any nigga who grew up like he did on the outside of truly being “one of the guys” would over indulge like he did lol

Different eras
Whats that about the Hov meeting lol
I don't condone the video, I've never watched it, the thumbnail just shows the Pic Drake/Jay took in 2013, before or after their meeting. Just another situation of him trying to inherit Wayne's beefs, with him throwing sneak shots at Jay during C4/Take Care era. I believe Hov basically told Drake "don't let these people get you into some s*** you can't get out of" lol.
Basically son'd tf outta him, truly believe this meeting started his gangster arc.

T-Streets and Gudda were Young Money employees

I think people underestimate how much of this likely starts at deciding to stay in Toronto and be very accessible.. it’s normal for rappers to be extorted at home.. that’s step one into pulling you into a world you’re not from. Then that goes on long enough.. how blurred is the line between extortion and these are the guys around me all the time, they’re my friends, and I employ them.. what really is the difference at that point between a “mob boss” and someone in drake’s position.. I think a lot of people think the guy it all trickles down from is the hardest in the gang.. doing dirt themselves or have ever done dirt. Not enough “benefit of the doubt” for how confusing and alienating being in this position would be..
keep it canadian lmao
