I think people underestimate how much of this likely starts at deciding to stay in Toronto and be very accessible.. it’s normal for rappers to be extorted at home.. that’s step one into pulling you into a world you’re not from. Then that goes on long enough.. how blurred is the line between extortion and these are the guys around me all the time, they’re my friends, and I employ them.. what really is the difference at that point between a “mob boss” and someone in drake’s position.. I think a lot of people think the guy it all trickles down from is the hardest in the gang.. doing dirt themselves or have ever done dirt. Not enough “benefit of the doubt” for how confusing and alienating being in this position would be..

I think the problem with being Drake, and extortion, is the fact that the people around him probably didn't have to just strongarm him , to extort him. There's no telling how much petty dirt Drake has had his team do for him, in exchange for money. Of course Drake is the weakest link, but he's their boss.

Problem is, he can't stop paying these people, or else they'll turn on him, or spill his business. It's 100% business, and I think Drake forgets that, but that's why he's paying these guys for. Then losing the beef made him realize he's paying for street cred.
