Are u familiar with marketing strategies at all? Sounds like theyre capitalizing of Drakes hype fam. Big artist drops, streaming service jumps in with a deal for you to sign up so you can listen to said artist.
Streaming services need Drake, not the other way around. He already proved this by making hundred thousands of people sign up to Apple with Views
this doesnt answer my question...
drake is def beneficial to streaming services but they surely have been beneficial to him as well, that's how business works
i think y'all are being way too arogant about drake's stature in the industry, he's big, but it's still the industry we're talking about lmao
he def needs to be on streaming platforms as well and there's an argument to be made that some of his musical output caters to this era of playlist listeners
I maintain that those benefits are mutual
Yall act like Drake still aint dropping the hottest bars of his career. Champagne Poetry and Lemon Pepper Freestyle just came out and he still giving out the best features out of his peers. Drake is #1 because these other rappers aint hungry

Drake does not make music like Kanye and Frank what u talm bout bro
It’s crazy OP think this because those two have tapped into one audience Drake never has & probably never will and that’s the indie crowd

Drake benefits are very minimal and it really depends on what streaming service we're talking about. He is the biggest cash cow for them that much is a fact because no other artist is doing 10 billion streams each year. Its in favor of Spotify and Apple to promote him while he's hot so they can eventually become profitable. Drake is really carrying them if you think about it. He was almost 1% of Spotify total streams last year all by himself. We're talking millions
You know Drake's album was underwhelming when his fans are comparing him to same artists whom they were mocking during his commercial peak

Your taste not better than anyone else really into music. Stop being this corny lmao
I’ll be honest, I’m not sure what the objective of this post was

Thought they didn't care about those "nerds" tho

Nvm then bro
he def tried on CLB and it really showed in the production and some of the bars
I just think hes kind of cooked songwriting wise + he slapped a bunch of filler on there too
He tried here n there but it clearly wasn’t a concentrated effort to produce an experience.
I agree he might be somwewhat cooked but Im tryna cognitive dissonance that away until it hits me in the face. If he tried more his gifts might come back to life.
They won't give him the flowers until he's gone
If he died tomorrow they'd be eating d***
I think the perception of Drake declining in quality amongst a lot of music heads stems from one thing: a lot of his lyrics in deep cuts now don’t appeal to people who aren’t that invested in the lore of Drake
Cause the quality of lyricism/flow hasn’t really declined if you listen to his projects lbr. The great bars are just as well written as ever and the mediocre bars are just as mediocre as the ones before. He’s still a hook god and has a great ear for production. His voice is as much of a joy to listen to now as it was then - and even smoother as he has become more seasoned. The level of versatility is pretty much the same
But that’s the most tangible change since 2016 that I’ve observed. There is no longer that sense of “even if you hate this guy, he’s expressing sentiments that even the biggest detractors f*** with” in nearly every song
And the decline of this + the growing accessibility of his hits leads to the perception that he has drastically declined all over. So in short, people are overblowing this so-called decline in quality. Also the cover art is starting to suck

stopped reading at the first sentence cuz u gonna have to provide proof for that claim: "drake's benefits are very minimal..."
we don't know what type of deals he signs, it might be small compared to what the company is getting but a huge difference from what the second/third/4th "cash cow" is getting (idk)
I think we need to stop here cuz we literally don't know
(I dont care enough to speculate any further)
have a nice day/evening nonetheless
