As a fan of Drake, I feel like he doesn’t really try to be creative especially the last few years and that’s what makes music fans think he’s “basic”

This being said Drake at his peak is an amazing rapper and songwriter his songs are catchy and fun and he def has at least 2 classics

The issue with Drake, he didn’t make any good conceptual album or theme album that stick to culture compare to like Kanye or Frank ocean. Those two guy have a story to tell that people could related to them. Drake didn’t bring any story that relatable to people. He didn’t bring anything to culture that he could influence any of them. He basically just biting the sound Kanye album 808 heart break last 10 year along with Big Sean flow. Please don’t bring bs number or stream sale because that number is bullshit. Platform is Spotify is own by universal music group that mean any number release could manipulate and be pay along with radio play by his past label. If you take out all the number and his hit, what the Drake bring to the table for the culture? What he created that could influence to everyone ?

I’ll echo other people here and say Drake’s raw talent, his ear for what will work, his ability to rap and do a pop hook, is pretty much unmatched. Not sure what style he can’t do atp. But he’s never made a bold album like dark fantasy, Yeezus, etc, and it seems like he stopped trying to push himself around nothing was the same or if you’re reading this. I definitely think he has the capacity to be talked about like Frank or Kanye but his projects have been weak for a while. I’d love to see him get weird and do a whole album of like, meshing Jai Paul type samples with his dancehall s*** with his bars or do a whole fleshed Passionfruit/Hold On We’re Going Home record, but it’s been a minute since he impressed anyone outside of his sales figures and ticket sales.
