People mistake specificity for depth, Drake doesn’t speak on highly specific experiences like Earl but he still hits the same level of depth if not more.
9/Gods Plan/Nice For What/etc.. are as deep as any Earl song, Drake is just coming from a different angle. Drake is trying to find the links that connect everyone together while Earl is looking for the few people who can speak his language. Opposite approaches, one is descriptive, other is prescriptive. More on that eventually.
Lines like "I feel good, sometimes I don't" & "Tryna keep it peaceful is a struggle for me" break the human experience down to its most fundamental levels, exposing core feelings we all share. Communicating those feelings in a way that resonates with billions takes a deep understanding of emotions and knowing how to leave enough space for listeners to exist. Stepping aside and leaving space for listeners is the most critical part, because you have to eschew the specificities of your own experience and allow the feeling to exist in and of itself. This type of depth is deceptively simple but drake prioritizes BEING deep over APPEARING deep.
"Can't get me on the line so they hang me out to dry for it" vs "fishy niggas stick to eating off of hooks"
You didn’t even name his songs where he bars up being Introspective. You can compare those type of songs to earls songs like Solace or anything off IDLSIDGO. Both being deep and personal in their own way
Ops right however people mistake specificity for depth, Drake doesn’t speak on highly specific experiences like Earl but he still hits the same level of depth if not more.

thx bruh
I've never really personally connected to Earl's music, but I understand the mindset, and that offers it's own level of appreciation. Still, Drake's popular sound should never be mistaken for lack of texture or specificity. There's a reason his best work lingers, and it isn't just because it's popular.

also, I would say that you can't argue that Drake is equally as abstract as Earl and if you try to you're reaching
abstract is different from being deep

So are you saying Earl appears deep because many of his songs may sprinkle phrases and words here and there? Because I would disagree and say Earl has songs such as Chum, Luper, Mantra, Faucet, DNA, Grief and Solace. These songs contain stories and feelings we can all resonate with that are also descriptive
