It’s honestly not that far fetched a question
He’s been coasting at the top for a long time
It’s a natural question to ask is this the peak? It’s been asked and answered several times in the past.
Lol calm down @op
I feel you tho don't like these industry niggas ganging on our Goat. But it's def a question to ask with his recent output. But niggas would be back on his d*** like usual when he's next album or singles are bangers.
Crazy they don't ask this bout other top rappers. But Drake is him so I get it
Maybe they tried to do the promo deal they did for Kendrick’s latest album for CLB and he turned them down lol! They are probably salty. “Opinions over statistics of course”
Sassy

💯
Rap caviar has a podcast now, they're 4 episodes in. It's a Spotify branded podcast so it's quite vanilla and polished and don't want to offend artists.
Their first few episodes were positive topics, who's on rap's mount rushmore, who are the next big 3, what is kendrick lamars best album. Since they did a Kendrick episode I expected a Drake one to be next and I wondered the theme - it pops up today and of course, it's negative. "Has Drake peaked?"
Carl Cherry created Rap Caviar and is head of hip hop at Spotify. He is very close with pg lang and has never met Drake. Whenever Drake is mentioned he goes out of his way to put Kendrick above him. Expect more stuff like this from Spotify around Drake/Kendrick. They don't f*** with him
Makes sense why Drake leans more towards Apple and has never done much with Spotify
I have a feeling that if he ever had an interview with Drake, he wouldnt keep that same energy.
it is lowkey weird though how you only ever hear convos about Drake peaking, rarely ever about Cole/Kendrick etc tho, even though their best albums are all regarded to be like 6+ years ago at this point, a lot like Drake.
part of me feels like a lot of press do this to Drake because he doesn't suck up to them or give them exclusives... also its popular to hate on Drake. smh
Listening to the full pod, it was a really good listen. I don't hear ANYTHING negative regarding Drake. In fact, it's probably the opposite.
Kind of a bait thread ngl

this, I found it to be a very great listen

When niggas was talking about "Come Winter" from Room for Improvement, or "Don't You Have a Man" from Comeback Season, I was like, Okay we're in for something good with this pod.
They all are huge fans of his and you can tell. You rarely get nat'l podcasts regarding drake that are this well informed with his catalogue.

You hear about Cole having only one good album all the damn time
it’s not even a comparison anymore. K dot dropped a mid album after 5 years. It came and went. Not many projects are standing the test of time these days. Nobody can tell me artists need to take time to create something special anymore, it’s about inspiration. Drake keeps living his life, that’s why he stays inspired

Not just about the fact that the album lacked longevity, but it's also following Billboard's rule change on bundles from years prior that he had a history of HEAVILY exploiting. Gave him the illusion of appearing much bigger in popularity than he was, so releasing an album after the rule change paired with an album without replay value all helped to expose where he actually is in terms of star power... perfect timing!
Drake peaked 7-9 years ago, depending on which era of you prefer between NWTS and IYRTITL. I still think NWTS is his best album. Drake is more of a singles artist at this point.
But that happens all the time. It's arguable that Kendrick artistically peaked with TPAB in 2015 and commercially peaked in 2017, pretty similar to Drake (I would say Drake's commercial peak was Views in 2016). He's still making creatively vital music though.
Singles artist? U prefer Too Sexy and Toosie Slide over In2deep and Not U Too?

"rarely ever about Cole/Kendrick etc tho, even though their best albums are all regarded"
Cap, take a look at this site. Especially when it comes to cole

This site yeah, anywhere else like mainstream blogs / pods? Nah
what I do lol
Lol op was severely hurt when they asked if Big Scorp fell off

Rem and Jinx are both super cool and both like Drake. Might be the podcast’s executive producer that’s choosing the episode topics and set them up.
But it’s a dumb question. Which rapper a decade and 11 projects into their career hadn’t already peaked. Of course he’s peaked. Doesn’t mean he won’t continue to make good music and have moments of greatness

I thought it was the consensus that Cole’s clear best were FNL and FHD

It’s not a dumb question at all
You’re asking which rapper a decade and 11 projects in hasn’t peaked and that’s precisely the point of pod…he’s not like any other rapper that’s preceded him
No rap act has had a run as long as his, which is why the question was posed
