The album seems like a big deal to him based off all the unnecessary hype he's built up for it so he might as well follow through. Have 40 finish working on the album and get the label to start making physicals, finish the tour, shoot some music videos and come up with a decent rollout/release strategy and then kick things off next year.
September-November is already stacked (and for all we know, more people will announce albums set to drop around then). December will be flooded with Christmas music so that's a no go.
If I'm him, I'll shut up with the talks about the album on stage and act like I never said anything and drop the album the right way. Anyone who wants to complain about the delay will still show up whenever it drops so that's not something to worry about and if he really feels like dropping something to make up for the album not dropping, a Scary Hours pack will suffice.

Aug 25, 2023·4 repliesI didn’t expect it to drop this week or anytime before now but I do think it should drop sometime in September to keep his word on the summer drop (which he’s broken in the past so not really a big factor) or late October after the tour.
He also could pull a fast one and actually drop tonight because of international dog day as others have mentioned which would honestly be pretty smart from a marketing standpoint but I think that’s wishful thinking at best.
Worse case scenario is this is another Views/CLB situation and it doesn’t drop until like Q3 2024. That would suck but I wouldn’t be shocked. I definitely think it would ruin the album though. Overcooked Drake albums always be the worst ones. Drake is at his best when he just captures the moment that he’s in and just drops.
