Point to where I said that. Quickly.

You just said Tyler doesn’t have impactful albums and then you listed the albums you said were impactful..?

There we go! Then if we wanna take it somewhere else, CMIYGL has had everyone running to Drama again for a project too.

Mm I almost wanted to argue that dreamville started that trend.. but you are absolutely right. I mean besides Wayne being the piece to make people want to do a tape with drama, Tyler did bring it back.

The album is loaded with peak drake, almost none of which are “singles”

    Is there more(!!!!)
    Jaded (!!!!)
    Survival
    Nonstop
    Elevate
    Sandra’s rose
    Emotionless
    8 out of 10
    Can’t take a joke
    March 14th
    Mob Ties
    Peak

Not counting some of the biggest rap records of this era in god’s plan and nice for what.

I get it music is subjective but he don’t have many more albums in his catalogue with this many high quality drake records. The volume + quality is insane and I think if you listen to it without the pusha t context, many would feel differently about it.

It is definitely bloated, the problem is that there’s no consistency across which songs aren’t needed

I think OG scorpion may have been a classic tbh

    Exactly how I feel.

I don’t know of any other rapper today who could do a double album and reach that level of volume + quality. Insane feat.

It’s honestly in my top 5 OAT drake projects. Probably top 4.

There’s some absolutely underrated gems. I almost never see anybody mention Sandra’s rose

And that’s not even including all the massive singles that are also good

The standards he’s held to are insane. That’s why every album it gets lukewarm reception but 4 months later someone goes viral for championing how good the album is.

It’s all personal, but IMO idk how you could love drake’s music and not see the flat out brilliance of scorpion. 20/25 is right where I’d have it too, and that probably puts it right up there with the best albums of his catalogue

I’m clashing scorpion with any other album in his catalogue

I think the songs are good but it doesn’t provide as Clean of a listen as some of his other projects which is why I would rate it under some other projects

It's definitely better than it gets credit for. It's funny people don't see how biased they are against Drake. It's happened like 5 times now. He drops a new album, everyone's s***s on it and calls it mid/trash and then a few months later, everyone starts doing a 180° on their takes. Happened with Views, More Life, CLB, Honestly, Nevermind.

My theory is that because he's so good at simply making rap music that people like...that they have to be hypercritical of it otherwise they'd have to give him like 7 classics under his belt and would have to call him the undisputed GOAT and that's boring so they end up being hypercritical and fake...only to come around later.

His albums impact culture, they destroy billboard, and the songs on these albums live on far beyond the year that they're released in.

By almost any metric these albums are incredible and of high quality, but it's Drake so the standard has to be incredibly high...until inevitably the viral tweet or tik Tok comes and boom.

I mean that's fair, to each it's own. Just saying from my vantage point, scorpion is panned when the volume of high quality drake records on there is insane to me.

Discog wise it’s Drake and Kanye in a damn near dead heat. No one else is even close, if you’re saying otherwise you’re delusional or a hater.

You started listening to rap in 2016 saying s*** like that. Plenty of artists, including Kendrick, Tribe, Tyler and Outkast, have better discographies than Aubrey Graham

How the hell was Oxymoron, Acid Rap, Sept 5th more impactful than IGOR, Flower Boy or Call Me If You Get Lost? You’re talking out of your ass now lmfao

    Where did I say that?

    Yes!

Like I don't get it. How can you love drake and not love scorpion? You're getting 25 drake records, and 18-20 of them are IMO anywhere from really good to goated.

The sheer volume of good drake songs on there puts it near the top of his discography.

This is how I feel about certified lover boy.

I don't see much in the name of a bloated argument for Scorpion. I just think he blacked out. Very few of those 25 songs for me are meh / not needed.

Nah, niggas want him to do more weirdo s*** so they can claim it as refreshing/new. It ain't enough that he just makes good music anymore. It has to be done weirdo critic-bait s*** with weirdo production or weirdo bars now for him to move them lol.

The songs people listed are impactful to rap. Yonkers alone shifted alternative rap aesthetics alone in the early 2010s lol also something doesn’t have to be mainstream to be impactful. It sounds like you’re equating hits with impact

Buddy spilling it all on March 14th and Emotionless I don't see how something that emotive isn't close to peak drake. That's literally what he's made a career out of. If that ain't peak drake then what is?

Mans is showing genuine gratitude to the point of disbelief at how his life has turned out in Elevate. Again, if that isn't peak drake then what is?

I'm not. Tyler is a mainstream rapper, yes? That's why I specifically asked for 5 of his songs that were impactful in mainstream rap to be listed and it has nothing to do with hits.

Never said he doesn't make good music or doesn't have good albums or isn't a good musician. People in here were saying his discography is better than Drake's and that's where I got lost.

  • In any event, another classic soon come. The goat.

It is better lol like Drake only got 3 great albums period where Tyler has a couple more over him imo but that’s just my opinion. I’ll change that to say it’s arguably better

Flower Boy/IGOR had more impact with the niche subset of rap fans than with mainstream rap audiences imo.

Flower Boy dropped in 2017 but projects like DAMN, More Life, Culture, 4:44, Luv Is Rage 2, Future, etc had a lot more impact and were more visible even in terms of debates/discussions in the mainstream rap space.

You know an artist's discography isn't just their albums, right?
