Think you have 2 options:
Drake is the god of music (better than Michael Jackson whoever) because he's able to make trash and keeps getting bigger.
Or
The music is good and in touch with the culture even if it's not his best.
Anything else is just bullshit. Might as well say a genie did it.
his worst project is kiss land tbh
Kiss Land is one of his best . Super underrated project, unlike dawn fm which gets overrated like crazy on this site from abel stans
he definitely raps better now with nwts being the exception
Not even close.
From a technical standpoint, he adopts and plays with sooo many flows and rhyme schemes, way more than like 7 to 10 years ago.
Stans or people who like his music do because they enjoy it
What’s more confusing is why y’all who dislike him so quick to tune in for his new music 💀
Cause no one dislikes him tbh it’s a “I’m not mad at you I’m just disappointed” thing
We always saw him for what he could’ve been
Like when Chrysler made that one car..
If we going off just his 2020 and beyond releases? Lol Tyler, Nas, Benny
This will probably get me roasted but s*** I enjoy Yeat’s or F***in Destroy Lonely’s music more than I’ve enjoyed everything other than Dark Lane Demo. That may not make them better tho
Nas isn't making better music than Drake. Neither is Benny. Y'all play those niggas' songs/albums for one week and call it the best thing since fried rice but then never go back to it again. Y'all ain't fooling anyone with that s***.
Hope more than anything.
But I didn’t even download CLB on my apple music
Good for you. Congratulations, you're different.
I think Drake's brand of rap music meant he was never going to get that universal acclaim that follows rappers of his tier and elk.
I don't quite get the peaking 7 years ago thing. Definitely not as a rapper. Champagne Poetry wipes the floor with Over My Dead Body for example.
I could kind of see it from the R&B / songwriting vantage point.
Over my dead body better than champagne poetry
Even if it’s just because of the instrumental
And yes beat selection is a part of rap

You’re projecting and assuming way too much with this and swearing people who say it’s mid listen to the drake album like you got everyone’s Spotify wrapped on a spreadsheet
It really doesn’t lmao
But from this and your opinion on Mr. Morale I’m gonna assume you only listen to mainstream rap and R&B
Shut yo b**** ass up
Drake be rapping rapping sometimes but the beat and flows are always so underwhelming on his most lyrical tracks - Too Much and Pound Cake sound so much better than stuff like Champaign Poetry and Lemon Pepper Freestyle
Shut yo b**** ass up
You know it’s true
Nothing wrong with it, but it explains your opinions
Good for you. Congratulations, you're different.
I’m not alone in being a Drake fan listening to his new shut hoping it’s as good as his old s***.
It’s the consensus of people who grew up in his prime
Drake is not a traditional hip-hop artist in any sense. He's never been. And so that audience will never give that title to any album he ever dropped, regardless of how impactful or great it is. That's just facts. It's still people debating how good Drake's best albums are when they've checked every box for any other album they'd consider a classic but because it's Drake, they'll say it isn't.
It's whatever. I don't even care about that s*** anymore.
Drake will have the longest run of dominance in rap history and he has one of the best catalogs ever in music to go along with that. Y'all can keep debating on when he peaked/if he still has the ability to make good music but the truth will always speak for itself.
I've always known y'all won't ever give Drake his credit for anything till he no longer makes music or dies.
I feel what you’re saying but I’m talking about the generation that absolutely would have given him that and somewhat wanted to.
The dusty old head generation you probably have in mind either doesnt even pay it thought or respect him for what he is. But if you’re in that 23-34 age range to where you were 13-24 or so when SFG dropped IMO you should be able to remember that climate of people wanting Drake to drop that undeniable classic. That kinda got washed away with the Meek thing, he got his LeBron come back from 3-1 and bring Cleveland a ring moment by surviving that instead of delivering that album. there’s a clip I vividly remember of Charlemagne speaking on him not having that album yet in like 2013-2014 (I know ur gonna say duh it’s Charlemagne but still lol just saying it was a “thing” back then)

Drake will always be one of the most listened to artists due to the nature of the music he makes, that does not mean he’s always making the best music
I hope you realize and understand the nuance of what that means
Over my dead body better than champagne poetry
Even if it’s just because of the instrumental
And yes beat selection is a part of rap
We're talking about different things here.
I'm separating the beat from the rapping. I prefer OMDB from a production standpoint.
But he's rapping wayyyy better now than he was on that album.
Cause no one dislikes him tbh it’s a “I’m not mad at you I’m just disappointed” thing
We always saw him for what he could’ve been
Like when Chrysler made that one car..
You’re one of these mentally .. strange people obsessed with commenting on drake when you’re allegedly “disappointed” .. for years.
I always see this name in drake threads 😂 I can’t imagine being this invested in someone who don’t do it for me musically. I just tune out
Meanwhile future never fell
Lol come on the new s*** not touching the 2015 run

Drake did exactly what he needed to do on OMDB

Tana Talk 3 and Plugs I met 1 we’re both insanely replayable
my thoughts are keep it in that thread
