I hate that comparison (Dre, Kanye) because it's disingenuous.

It doesn't matter for those guys because they weren't vying for the greatest rapper title or vying for the crown or vying for a spot in the GOAT rapper convo. Drake always wanted that. Writing will always matter when you are vying for that greatest rapper label.

That's the irony of it. Maybe a lot of his fans don't care about it, but he grew up as a rap nerd. So many of his favorite rappers when he was young are these lyrical guys and you can see their influence on him, especially early on.

And I wish this convo was left behind in 2015, but unfortunately he's still doing the reference track thing as evidenced by the recent leaks. It's lazy on his part and his laziness has showed for many years in his music.

Where's the fight? Someone brought up calling for you, which was on Drake's last album, and I was like it's a fun song, but it sucks he didn't write it.

It'll always be a knock on him. I'm not sure how anyone can dance around that.

Yeah, I think it's fine for anyone who wants to use that as a reason to remove Drake from certain conversations but I don't get trying to insist that other people do it. Drake's pen isn't compromised to me because he's written for tons of people and he's the one behind his most lyrical s***.

He wore a shirt that said If You're Reading This It's Too Late on the back right before the tape dropped and no one said anything because it seemed like nothing. If you think I'm wrong that's fine but we'll revisit this shirt if or when the time is right. Nothing is accidentally, believe everything

I never said he doesn't have a pen. No one that is being unbiased can ever say that.

It's two mutually exclusive things.

1) Reference tracks will always be a knock on him.
2) He can rap with the best of them.

I’m just so excited for new drake music whenever it’s coming. I would be okay if he even waited to drop till next year or even the year after. It feels like a whole new chapter for Drake which is so exciting and fresh. With a whole new palette cleanse, there’s no telling where he will take it from a creative perspective

More of them have connected than the next rapper
Drake has written about 10-20 records for other artists.
