He literally grew up with black influence, be it socially or culturally in Memphis. But the "he's Canadian" shtick, doesn't change anything. His primary audience resides in the US, who listen to his music and last time I checked on Google, Toronto was a 4 hour drive from Detroit. People here act like Toronto is on the other hemisphere.
