But they do a lot for artists like drake
widely accepted these are some of the dirtiest business people in the world who have been f***ing over artists for decades

brutallustit is bizarre. but drake's a bizarre dude. and his ego is f***ed up. the label very much advised against this.
truly believe he thought the chance of kendrick having the reputation of stream-botter stuck to him outweighed any of what you said in his mind. he's just a sore ass loser.
Well according to frozen moments, the label told drake to go after Kendrick and pg lang if he thinks bots are involved
and he didn't because he knows that would look crazy.

One of their pieces of evidence of f***ery is that Not Like Us would come on after unrelated playlists ended. Seems a lot more likely to me that the song was being listened to by people that don’t normally listen to rap and the algorithm reflected that. The beef was a massive pop culture moment. The week they were dropping music, they overtook Trump and Biden on Google searches. People way outside the realm of regular rap fans were listening to it. So if you have a large number of people who listen exclusively to Taylor Swift check out the song, Spotify will think fans of Taylor Swift will like this song, so they recommend it after a Taylor Swift song.
Another piece of evidence they point to is that Siri would play Not Like Us if you asked it to play certified lover boy. That’s because the most popular song at that time that featured the lyric “certified lover boy” was Not Like Us. It’s not a conspiracy.
The suit seems to be a whole lot of circumstantial evidence and hunches - I don’t see it making it to court
if you read the entire draft, there's atleast three significant claims
- radio payola, which is illegal and they have a specific claim or instance of this happening
- the spotify umg licensing fee for not like us, specifically quoting the price (savings for spotify) when they played that specific song
- removing any copyright on youtube and allowing streamers to make money reviewing the tracks
