Akademiks lowkey spoke about this a couple years ago. He said that Drake would have to choose between going with his older fans (the ones who have been their since Day 1) or his younger fans . It seems like he tries to do both at times but again the songs where he's being like this get more reception from people rather than the maturity shtick. Same s*** happened with Jay. He chose to go the "mature" route with 4:44 and people weren't really listening to it. People speak about how they love the album but even some were saying how he had to cancel dates for his tour because people weren't coming or alluding to the fact he faked streams with TIDAL/Samsung deal to make the Album look better. If an artist isn't "mature" enough for you just don't listen.
I also don't get the age critique from some when SZA is on the same track with a 3 year age difference between the two doing the same s*** he's doing.

MidnightOVOForreal. Like this would be cool as a random loosie single, but its definitely his weakest single
Not even cause it sounds bad…because it doesnt sound bad at all. But its nothing new and the same formula we’ve been getting when it comes these types of songs. Songs like Headlines and All Me and even God’s Plan were all songs that sounded like he put in effort to make a statement.
I thought about it this morning. I would argue back when No Shopping came out that he was putting out music and still sounded inspired when people were saying he wasn’t and he was boring. But years later now following the same formula is getting boring and seems less special each release
I hope this album is really fire. I know 6 God won’t let us down even if I’m not crazy about this. And who knows? Maybe the song will grow on a lot of us when we hear it in context of what he’s got
I honestly don’t think this will grow on me.
I’ve tried giving it countless chances throughout the day, but it…just…sounds….bland.
And everyone is raving about the last January - December verse. I mean it’s cool, but I don’t ever need to revisit this song as a stand alone ever again.
If people like it - cool. Let them cook.
But real talk, and I know I’m gonna get flamed for this, I like Diddy’s R&B songs on his album more than this 😬😬😬
