All he said was speaking like that was ignorant and he said so in front of cameras and in the midst of people who wouldn't understand the slang even if he tried to explain it to them.
Maybe he really did think that back then or maybe not, who knows? Either way, acting like as a teenager, you or other people didn't distance yourself from certain things you believed would make you appear uncool around certain people is silly. It's a lot of teenagers who use homophobic/misogynistic terms only because they hang around friends who do the same and it isn't until they get older/realize they no longer need to do that to be seen as cool that they evolve and move on from s*** like that.
So it's stupid trying to act like any evolution a person goes through is fake. Since Drake started rapping, he's been very open about embracing Toronto and putting the city on. He was bigging up the city/everything associated with it long before it was cool to do so. He's also spoken about how people from Toronto used to be embarrassed to claim the city/aspects of the city and how he set out to change that mentality so acting like him embracing the same Toronto slang he dismissed in this clip is somehow him being fake, is dumb.
