This man drops a loosie on a whim and you guys lose your collective minds LOL. I think that alone proves just the opposite of the point this thread is trying convey.

I've thought all of this for a long time though, he changed a lot after Scorpion dropped and isn't the same person or artist anymore

even drake haters couldn’t agree with those points everything in op is just a parasocial relationship problem

You don't agree with anything? Not even that his style as an artist changed a lot after Scorpion? i.e he became way more rap focused & stopped wanting to venture into other genres as much

  • Minimum effort and outsellin most ya favs

I had like 8 points lol and I didn't even mention the fact that over saturation damages artists careers. HNVM was panned by the general public, which resulted in less people liking Drake and wanting to check for his future music, that's how this s*** works, you're only as good as your last 2-3 albums

i'm still a drake stan btw & I love his high output. I just think he's losing popularity now

See that’s where you’re wrong. Prior to CLB he gave us Life is Good and Wasting Time then CLB which was all LOVED by the general public if you were actually outside. HNVM has been heralded by Drake stans since the day it dropped and surpise surpise, they count as fans towards his popularity too.

Don’t get me started on Her Loss where he finally gave a lot fans what they wanted. In fact, fans liked it so much that 21 Savage brought 250k people to Kai Cenat’s stream where he averages 70k people (Savage gets like 5k on his lives where Drake gets hundreds of thousands every time he joins niggas on live. Niggas came to listen to Savage talk about Drake)

Man is as big as ever rn and the stadium situation is logistics that are easier to pull off in an arena

And I’m a Kendrick stan having to defend Drake against dumbass niggas like you

  • Ngl after HNVM i was scared but Her Loss proved the boy still the man
400K+ Fw on a collab album is CRAZY

What’s wrong with that? If he didn’t switch it up then everyone would be saying his music is stale and dated. Don’t let numbers influence your thoughts too much. Billboard has changed album sales and how a sale is defined. CLB would’ve been very close to milli first week based on old parameters and HNVM was a surprise DANCE album.

CLB was still big but nowhere near as big as Scorpion/Views, numbers pretty clearly show that, it was mostly due to lack of hits, clb had nothing

I'm also fairly sure Scorpion was streamed more in its first month than HNVM has been in the last 10 months. To say he's as big as he's ever been rn is insane

  • Apr 7, 2023

    I kinda agree with OP

idk if its ruining anything per se but its def not helping anything

Yea this thread is entirely about numbers/popularity though, my point is he's making less accessible music than he was in 2016-2018 and that's causing his numbers to go down

on a personal level I actually love what he's doing musically still, altho I do miss him exploring other genres a lot more regularly and I definitely think his music is more serious now

    nah I'm talking about overall

Views + More Life + Scorpion
    had more variety/styles than
DLDT + HNVM + Her Loss

in my opinion anyway. whilst also just being outright more 'trendy' (which is what HNVM lacked)

The only parasocial point was the social media s***, everything else was a valid critique about an aspect of Drake’s artistry

Y’all gotta stop using “if you were actually outside” to defend/argue something about Drake’s work. There is a reason that man is barely performing any CLB songs every time he’s done a show in the past 5 months

Yeah the social media point is maybe weird but I do think the countless memes/videos he used to put out made people bigger fans, he's a lot more selective now

yeah i do think it has and the reason being he has as much fun with rap as he did before the ghostwriting s***, that’s his roots and he expressed at the grammys how much hip hop doesn’t need them lol

and i even said this in another thread he said rap wasn’t making him happy around 2016/17 and he’s been in beefs every drop it felt like but now he’s just trying to push barriers pushing hip hop forward.

Drake is always gonna be a superstar/popstar i just can’t believe anyone complaining he’s not pop enough, i’m pretty sure he knows he not tryna alienate his true fans, most of y’all pop fans became fans in 2016 lol

I don’t get your point, a setlist =\= overall reception from fans. Travis does like 1 or 2 songs off Rodeo (Antitode, 90210) every set since it dropped and niggas still hold that to be his best

Huh? Drake’s always been a pop crossover guy from day one. There are numerous pop songs on So Far Gone

  • Apr 7, 2023

That man works hard & doesn’t need to indulge in the image side of things that much anymore. if you’re into Drake for the spectacles you came to the wrong guy

That’s an entirely different situation. Rodeo is 8 years old and it was his debut studio album and he’s dropped 4 projects since then.

CLB is Drake’s most recent blockbuster studio album, his second most recent solo studio album, and he’s never toured it before. If people loved it he would be performing way more songs off of it way more regularly

Bro dropped a whole dance album before a full on r&b or rap album like people have wanted him too but hey somehow he’s ruining his popularity… when he still sells more than everyone else in the worst era of sales

You’re ignoring the part where I said since it dropped. Even on the Birds tour, he only did 90210 and Antitode, so it’s not different. Even Days Before Rodeo and Owl Pharoah get more songs performed than Rodeo, so again your point is moot lmfao
