I don't like everything Drake does and think he could be putting in more effort but I really think you're reaching with some of these points especially the eras part. CLB, HN, Her Loss all had great eras you're just used to artists milking everything for all it's worth for months which is no fun imo I love how concise and self contained Drake does his era promotion

Why do you expect him to be as big as he was at his commercial peak? You're always overreacting and reaching with your posts complaining about Drake. NO, this song isn't ruining his popularity in any way and Drake clearly doesn't care about chasing hits at this point in his career (even though he still manages to score more hits than anyone every year regardless). He has enough hits for 10 careers.

You just want to be able to brag that he has multiple songs spending months at #1, well, that time might as well be over. Doesn't mean he still isn't successful or still doesn't score hits or that his career is somehow dwindling.

Yeah not enough people look past the surface and adjust for the changes Billboard keeps making. 700k in 2018 and 600k in 2021 would be around the same. I don't know about a million but 900k-1M in 2016. Views first week only had 245 million streams and Scorpion and CLB had 745 and 743 million. Billboard just hated how dominant hip-hop became so they changed the rules and pop artists got away with bundles + radio deals + streaming farms

1) didn't put effort into getting a Stadium tour which would have propelled him to greater heights — Maybe he’s at peace with where he’s at. Maybe he’s not trying to center his life around increasing his popularity.

2) doesn't do fun pop hits anymore which is what propelled him to insane levels with views/scorpion —maybe he’s making the type of music he would like to make at this present time. Maybe he’s not feeling the light, poppy hits.

3) Puts out songs like Search & Rescue as a single which is very average, it's pretty clear Yachty yes man'd this into existence. Not to mention the elementary grade mixing. A year from now I doubt this place will rank this a top 100 Drake song. — mixing could definitely be better, but the overall quality of the song is subjective.

4) Doesn't do fun collabs anymore, every feature he does he seems to think he has to try hard to prove he's an insane rapper. 90% Drake fans don't care, they want a fun hook to listen to. When was the last time Drake gave a catchy hook to an artist? — Drake still has catchy hooks but maybe he’s not interested in a bunch of collabs right now.

5) Doesn't do album eras, HNVM had nothing, CLB had nothing, Her Loss had nothing. Meanwhile look at what Taylor's doing with Eras, Weeknd with AH etc. Even when Drake tried with CLB he completely f***ed it up because of how lazy he is — some people just want to drop music and be on with the next mission. He’s not a character and this is not a season in a tv series. Lol

6) Doesn't really show his personality on social media as much in the last 5-6 years, causing fans to feel less connected — he just needs to let the music do the talking. We’ll connect with him that one. I don’t give a damn about his IG.

7) Does boring as f*** music videos which are clearly made in about 5 minutes probably entirely to fulfill some contract clause
At this rate he will not be a top 5 artist in 5 years, hopefully I'm wrong just like I was wrong about The Weeknd's tour —maybe putting huge effort in music videos are too stressful for him at this point of the career. The Spin Bout U video was nice though.

Songs the mainstream views as bad will always result in an artist losing popularity, Drake isn't some God where these rules don't apply to him. You're making it seem like he'll never fall off which I find confusing

For me personally it's not about bragging about number of hits, it's about experiencing big events/moments. Drake's clearly capable of making that stuff happen, he just doesn't seem to care much, his whole team have become lazy. You've even got 40 putting out music that sounds like it was mixed by a 4 year old now.

Another example of this is last summer they announced the OVO Fest world tour, we haven't heard a single word about it since, nothing at all. That's something that they could easily make into something really cool, something that'll be remembered for decades. There's still 4 months so hopefully we hear about it soon, but at this rate I have little hope lol. They struggled even doing the Apollo shows

And if he falls off, then what? It's clear he doesn't care to chase hits anymore. He's been there, done that. He can make those pop hits with global reach if he wants. He's choosing not to. That answers any questions you might have about that.

Regarding everything else you mentioned, yes, we can all nitpick at things we wished he'd do more/less off but at the end of the day, he isn't some dummy who stumbled on his success and has managed it so far for this long off dumb luck. He knows what he's doing and it's his life and his career at the end of the day. We're all just along for the ride.

I talked about it above a lil but anyway music is way more to me than the actual songs/albums an artist puts out, artists can do things that completely elevate the whole experience to make it more entertaining and memorable. Kanye is insane at this, so is The Weeknd in recent years

and also I just prefer Drake's poppier stuff tbh, the verse heavy stuff doesn't have much replay value to me

Drake's music is already entertaining and elevated on it's own. He doesn't need cheap gimmicks outside the music to compensate. You're thinking the general public cares about that stuff more than they actually do and Drake's fans aren't the type to fall for that stuff, all that matters to them is good music at the end of the day the extra bs is forgotten about. What works for Kanye and Abel won't work for everyone because every artist is different you can't just copy and paste that formula

What’s weird is y’all will say that normal artistic stuff like rollouts, eras, and visuals are “gimmicks” because Drake doesn’t do them, while simultaneously ignoring that some of the most iconic songs / albums ever made are iconic and widely remembered as they are partly because of things outside the music.

Being an artist, especially one of Drake’s caliber, is much more than just dropping songs
