1) didn't put effort into getting a Stadium tour which would have propelled him to greater heights
2) doesn't do fun pop hits anymore which is what propelled him to insane levels with views/scorpion
3) Puts out songs like Search & Rescue as a single which is very average, it's pretty clear Yachty yes man'd this into existence. Not to mention the elementary grade mixing. A year from now I doubt this place will rank this a top 100 Drake song.
4) Doesn't do fun collabs anymore, every feature he does he seems to think he has to try hard to prove he's an insane rapper. 90% Drake fans don't care, they want a fun hook to listen to. When was the last time Drake gave a catchy hook to an artist?
5) Doesn't do album eras, HNVM had nothing, CLB had nothing, Her Loss had nothing. Meanwhile look at what Taylor's doing with Eras, Weeknd with AH etc. Even when Drake tried with CLB he completely f***ed it up because of how lazy he is
6) Doesn't really show his personality on social media as much in the last 5-6 years, causing fans to feel less connected
7) Does boring as f*** music videos which are clearly made in about 5 minutes probably entirely to fulfill some contract clause
At this rate he will not be a top 5 artist in 5 years, hopefully I'm wrong just like I was wrong about The Weeknd's tour
4)
Damn, ngl, I agree with everything you said, OP. I am out of touch to an extent now (I’ll admit), so somebody correct me and OP if we’re wrong but yea, he hasn’t been credited with a single monster hook on a feature in forever when he used to walk out of the summer with like 5. I still love the guy’s music because he’s given me so much throughout my life and his career, but it does appear to be a father-time moment for drake. It’s sad but part of life I guess
I would pushback on the stadium thing though. Idk if Drake could sell out stadiums. Maybe, maybe not. Stadiums are tough. Can’t think of a single rapper that could that, except Jay… But he needed Beyonces help

I don't understand why people keep repeating the stuff about him maybe not being able to do stadiums.. Based on everything you've seen regarding his numbers - streams, ''It's A Blur'' selling out despite the insane prices etc. - yall still doubt him?

Look, it isn’t easy to DOUBT Drake. All of my teenage life and into a good length of my adulthood, he’s been dominant. But if he could do a stadium tour, if he believed he had the draw, don’t you think he would’ve done it by now? I’m more than positive he’s looked into it at this point. My guess is he has a team of a***ysts that have crunched the numbers and have convinced him that despite his popularity, he doesn’t have THAT kind of draw. Maybe they’re wrong

I thought this about The Weeknd but then he proved me wrong & it went well for him. If The Weeknd can then I definitely think Drake can. Only issue is Drake's music will sound terrible in a stadium
Ngl I don't fully understand him and the fans now that I'm a few years removed from it. He's meant to be like the Beatles, MJ etc. and he treats it like sports right? But then there's this nonchalant attitude, "just drop the music f*** all this bullshit promo", leaving shows early and cancelling on the day. Like I'd get if this was all in the name of artistic vision but he does promo Stake no? Surely you'd do everything in your power to reach the heights you're speaking of
i feel like fans who want stadium tours don't actually go to the shows
Seriously. Why on earth would you want a stadium tour? That sounds terrible

Hard to say Father Time has arrived when her loss came out less than 6 months ago and is one of his most critically acclaimed in a while

There's always the stans who feel the need to automatically shut down any critique as a defense mechanism (80% of posters itt) and on the flip side the fans that can be overdramatic (OP).
Realistically speaking, this song doesn't really change much and even if it's mid/flops he's dropped plenty of one off songs with no real direction or purpose (Signs, Right Hand, Summer Sixteen, etc). To say it's ruining his popularity is a reach.
However career wise he is on autopilot these days, and certain aspects he is handling sloppily and just depending on his name to carry. It would be nice to see him put more effort into eras rather than dropping a project and then never acknowledging it. It would also be cool to see him better handle the merch other than the basic ass s***ty web drops he does. He also should invest more in his music as a product -- putting out Vinyls (not after YEARS), CDs, and better coordinating stuff with anniversaries.

What do you mean by “critically acclaimed”?Personally, I do not know anybody who still plays that and I go out from time to time and rarely hear anything off of that record. I personally enjoyed the album and still play a few records off of it from time to time. I am more than happy to walk back what I’ve said, by the way. I could be wrong.

I don't think it's a reach at all, it's basically a fact that Drake has struggled with hits since the end of the Scorpion era, even when it comes to features he's struggling whilst back in 2016-2018 he had countless hits by featuring on other peoples songs.
He has definitely lost a lot of popularity since 2016/2018 based on streams/billboard but maybe we just shouldn't compare him to 2016-2018, maybe that was just a purple patch for him
everyone in this thread has probably had a point over the last ten years where they thought Drake was going to recede into the background due to some artistic decision, and then it never happened. gave up predicting when his sales would decline after Scorpion dropped
Y’all gotta stop using “if you were actually outside” to defend/argue something about Drake’s work. There is a reason that man is barely performing any CLB songs every time he’s done a show in the past 5 months
Hes barely performing it because hes dropped two projects since then lmao
Tf

Yes that explains why he’s performing more songs off of all of his projects from 2010-2020 and the two newest projects while coincidentally ignoring the one that came out in 2021
