According to yall, Dram brought it up first because this was shot before Her Loss came out.
Bruh I'm not trying to argue with you
Yes it was shot first but got released after the album dropped. My point to wolf was that he was saying dram forced an interview because of the line which he didn't
Wow context that's been forgotten. Rory's main point too

man got every right to be upset. don't even get me started on how Drake did Ramriddlz dirty.
I haven’t heard cha cha, but I seriously doubt it’s not a straight up “ripoff.”
Songs having similar sounds or concepts is just a result of a s*** ton of art being made right now. No f***ing s*** some of it is similar.
I lowkey hate the “ripoff” complaint because it is anti-creativity

Right to be upset over using a similar sample. Yall are hilarious

@ovosound
exactly bruh
Hotline Bling was Never a Cha Cha remix, but the media, outlets like the Fader and Complex just ran with some s*** they found trying to seem like they knew something nobody else did
when Nineteen85 talks about producing Hotline Bling in interviews, he specifically mentions the sample of Timmy Thomas, that is the foundation for the song. The drums are similar but Dram's song didn't actually sample it, they do kinda sound similar. But this is one instance where Drake & 85 genuinely had no connection to the Cha Cha song, just a weird coincidence.

the song literally appeared on Apple Music Radio as Hotline Bling ( Cha Cha Remix )
so I feel like this is revisionist story, not trying to discredit drake but hotline bling came from cha cha
but if he made enough changes to it that dram cant sue him, thats hustle

You're referring to this![]()
But this is just written up by an intern, not by drake or his team. Which is why it was deleted afterwards

I also remember it being labeled as "Cha Cha Remix" on Apple Music Radio during its premiere. Other posters have brought this up as well.

regardless of what it may have been labeled, Drake is not pulling the strings at Apple Music. Like the above tweet, the people who put this as the title were probably fed misinformation. Drake himself has Never called it a Cha-Cha remix and that should be what people go off of.

The labelling on apple music + drake also compared it to how in dancehall, They sing over the same riddims and compared what he did to that
If the most you hear from someone in years is another man’s name coming out of their mouth…they might be washed
This nigga didn't even start this

I don't think he was referring to Hotline Bling tho, he was probably talking about Sweeterman

Beginning of this interview Timmy Thomas thanks Drake for crediting him and not using fake versions (like Dram)

!https://youtu.be/qpllawsNw8UYou know, like in Jamaica, you’ll have a riddim and it’s like, everyone has to do a song on that,” Drake said. “Imagine that in rap, or imagine that in R&B. Imagine if we got one beat and every single person—me, this guy, this guy, all these guys—had to do a song on that one beat. So sometimes I’ll pick a beat that’s a bit, like, sunnier, I guess is the word you used, than usual, and I just try my hand at it. And that’s kind of what ‘Hotline Bling’ was. And I loved it. It’s cool. I’ve been excited by that sort of creative process.”
Direct Quote. He mentions Hotline Bling by name at the end lol.
