The fact that so many books still name Drake as "the greatest or most significant or most influential" rapper ever only tells you how far rap music still is from becoming a serious art. Jazz critics have long recognized that the greatest jazz musicians of all times are Duke Ellington and John Coltrane, who were not the most famous or richest or best sellers of their times, let alone of all times. Classical critics rank the highly controversial Beethoven over classical musicians who were highly popular in courts around Europe. Rap critics, instead, are still blinded by commercial success. Drake sold more than anyone else (not true, by the way), therefore they must have been the greatest. Jazz critics grow up listening to a lot of jazz music of the past, classical critics grow up listening to a lot of classical music of the past. Rap critics are often totally ignorant of the rap music of the past, they barely know the best sellers.

Na he has incredible talent but the music aint age well bruh bruh. The instrumentals sound dated as s***. Of course thats obvious. But if we pulling up that consensus now and people saying he overrated. Imagine what theyll say in 20 years. I remember when lolipop dropped. I remember when wayne went on stage and said he was the greatest rapper alive. It is what it is. Hes looked as overrated because he has just as many bad projects as he has good ones. And his best one sounds dated. How could people not think its overated when theres albums from the 90s that sound timeless. Carter 3 dont sound timeless lowkey big fella i like wayne tho and he is a legend. But niggas that are 14 right now thinks he sounds like s***. And you going have to deal with that big boomer.
