apologies if this has been said before but what’s with this recent push of making a movie off a “historical event” that literally only happened within the last 5 years? events, for the most part, have always had some more time to breath in the past no? it feels like every other movie or hulu/netflix movie is a real life story off some bullshit
Yeah I think so fam lol
He wasn’t lol that actually happened, tho they didn’t look at the screen

The lesbians looked at the screen

Yea but they were doing tiktoks iirc lol that s*** was also annoying
a montage scene to Humble by Kendrick is one
This is the worst news I've ever heard
The characters are all listening to it in different locations, look directly at the screen, and rap along
Didn’t follow the GameStop stuff when it was going on and with the stacked cast I was interested in this, didn’t end up liking it unfortunately. It was just boring, somehow The Big Short made a stock movie about the housing market more entertaining.
They ran scenes of blaring hip hop songs and jokes about swearing in front of kids into the ground.
Too many characters caused them not to give enough time to any. All felt spread too thin

You really hit it to a T with this one, I felt closely the same. The tone was very inconsistent and way too many characters to really get invested. Dano was great though, as pretty much the only character that has an arc throughout
Also realized I’m not even following you changing that real quick, you a real one

When this was first announced I was hoping they would actually make fun of that formula. Sounds beyond parody but not on purpose

And exactly I was trying too hard to keep up with everyone they were introducing I couldn’t keep up with the stock stuff

They had an interesting topic to cover about something that really happened. I do think they should’ve waited till we were further removed from the event tho. I wasn’t familiar with the GameStop stuff but many ppl are
A parody of those kind of movies while also being about a real event would be a cool approach ngl. Kind of like the Weird Al biopic

I just can't stand biopics, ripped from the headlines, and brand origin stories. A great filmmaker can make a great film out of anything, but the glut of mediocre cash ins in those categories is ridiculous.
