feels like the only major franchise that has been delivering masterpieces on a real timeline since LOTR or the OG Spider-Man.

https://twitter.com/screentime/status/1995687986990907633hopefully it’s moved up if anything, won’t be upset at getting to see it earlier, though the Dec 18th release would have been perfect for my birthday smh
remembering sitting in the early screening for part 2, seeing that bright orange hue and then when the Harkonnens float above that cliff… knew i was experiencing generational stuff right there

And that way we can actually have imax screens more available for both movies vs them competing for screens

everytime a body fell the seats vibrated
Isn't it going to have to split IMAX screens with other films anyways? They're already booked.
Iñárritu film with Tom Cruise (same studio), Narnia (IMAX exclusive), Hunger Games all fall in those months. Obviously these are better clashes than Avengers but its so lame Dune has to feel the pressure to move just because Disney has chaotically altered this film and date several times.
With a late year-drop, you're likely not bound to a super limited time window because no major films release in early January. Maybe they're betting on rereleases like Sinners and OBAA got

Dune production seems like it’s been going smoothly too so it makes sense

Are the Cruise and Narnia movies wide releases?
Are the Cruise and Narnia movies wide releases?
Cruise film is a wide release i'm pretty sure WB is also positioning as awards competitor. It's the date they had for Batman before delay and swap
Narnia has a 4 week theatrical window with 2 weeks of 1000 IMAX screens globally. Netflix's biggest theatrical commitment yet

Damn yeah hopefully they’re able to find a 2 week window for this somewhere
But also WB will be positioning 2 movies with this and Cruise for Oscars next year
Dune probably wants that Fall slot because they were basically shut out from the Oscars for releasing too early in the year last time
