That as a whole I didn’t feel a single emotion from watching it. I liked the scale and the technical qualities of it, but after some time I just got kinda annoyed at constant establishing shots and the ‘geometry’ of it. And I know that that’s what Villeneuve is famous for, he’ll, he one of my favorite movie shots ever is in Sicario. Here though it just didn’t do anything as it seemed too polished for its own sake. I adore Lynch’s Dune because it’s a creative mind working in front of you and really a ‘making movies’ kinda film: I love seeing decisions on the screen, but I dont always care to see budgets

Both new Dunes just don’t do anything at all to me because all I see is a creative man zeroing in on looking nice and doing it well but getting no response from me in return. Not because I don’t wanna give it to him but simply because this time around it doesn’t resonate with me in any capacity

This entire response just shows you don’t really care about the source material. Which is all well and good but you really shooting from the hip talkin bout “people gonna drop their scores on rewatch” lmao. Denis did a MUCH much better job with the source material than David Lynch could have ever hoped to do.

It’s been said a few times here already but I could have done with another 30 mins to an hour tbh. It was already packed and paced pretty well but some more time being spent on Paul being accepted by Chani and the Freyman, more time with him after his change, more time fleshing out Feyd etc

Some of these things felt quick even tho the movie was already almost 3 hours. I wouldn’t have minded more time just have these feel a lil more earned

Nitpicky ofc still very much enjoyed the movie we got

the ending with Chani about to ride the worm feels like a great callback to the first movie when Liet Kynes is about to ride the worm before she gets killed by the Sardaukar.

it probably wasnt intentional, but in the book Chani is the daughter of Liet Kynes so it felt like a nice continuation of that scene

knowing Denis, it 100% was intentional

Peeped what I believe was true 70mm and I can't say I saw quite a difference than say IMAX but sound was amazing
Think that's just the film itself tho

this movie would have benefited from 45 extra minutes, I was checking my watch because I didn't want it to end

Yeah this could've easily been 3 hours

    Probably needed it

REALLY wished in the final fight when Paul stabs toward Feyd’s face and he stops it inches from his face and holds it there for a few seconds

That he would lick the tip of the knife mirroring when he did it earlier in the film. Would add more to his freakiness

the fireworks in giedi prime so f***ing stunning, I love small details like this that coalesce towards a vision as to what another planet/world in the feature might look like

One part I was confused about was when they were all headed south but Paul was adamant on staying by himself then he touches the ripples of the sand and gets a vision and not only does he go south he agrees to drink the water of life

I couldn’t figure out what caused the huge 180. I know he had the vision and heard a voice talking to him but that’s been happening all movie. What did I miss?

There too many things going on in part two the movies is too short

    Gurney showing up halfway through

Lady jessica just looking menacing and not speaking the whole second half of the movies

    Rabban whole arc is just

Compare to part one plot that just flow naturally

It really felt like chapters in a book (I mean this as a compliment)

Chani confronts him after and convinces him by telling him he won’t lose her, as that was the only thing holding him back. Key point she said as long as he doesn’t change as a person she won’t, but evident after Paul takes it he changes completely. He knew it was an inevitability for him to travel but knowing Chani was on his side made him go through with it.
