visually it'd be much more compelling imo
and the fight scenes would be incredible
script might leave something to be desired though lmao
I feel like Pt 1 was a set up for Pt 2 and Pt 2 was so for Pt 3. I'm worried Villeneuve won't be able to tie all loose ends he created. With each movie he decided to do something differently from the books. Is Chani Liet-Kynes daughter in his version or not? Is the Space Guild just an afterthought now? How will things play out now that the houses don't accept him while they did in the books? Chani seems like she's not gonna put up with being Concubine like the book and I also feel like Warner Bros wouldn't like the optics of that. Alia's story is so different. Like I'm excited but I feel like how is he going to provide closure to all of this in just one more movie?
i love this movie but i have some of these same questions also
how will he do it but i was skeptical he could pull it off in dune part 2 and i think he did so idk we will see
the story def gonna be even more diff than the book than these two movies were cause the changes that were made
i understand that this movie being 3 hours is already a blessing and very rare with a major blockbuster...... but i feel it could have greatly benefited with another hour or 2
i think they f***ed up not making dune into a trilogy
12 hour audiobook, s*** could make 3 movies easy
Kind of how I feel
idk about the āneoliberalā ass argument, but the fact that his vision hinges somewhat on āverisimilitudeā kind of kills the fantasy aspect of the story. It is a bit reductive cause Dennis did make Enemy
https://twitter.com/hitfactorypod/status/1767646782354555209thatās sorta how I felt about Part 1 initially but it grew on me over repeat viewings. I had years of expectations built in my head from reading the books & the bar was set high because of how great 2049 was
but once I got on board with his take on the world & went with it, thereās so much to like & both movies paired together just become undeniable

A long book doesnāt always equate to a good movie. Adaptation is necessary

i defintely agree i think there is enough content there tho
Still canāt stop thinking about this
That Austin Butler performance
Javier Bardem as comedic relief
Rebecca Ferguson
Hans Zimmer score

I need the 15hr cut

I try to answer my best reasoning
Narratively being Kynes daughter doesnāt serve much purpose beyond tying Paul more to Stilgar, since heās Chaniās uncle, but Stilgar is already devoted to Paul as a prophet. Thatās why genderbending Kynes didnāt matter too much imo.
Space guild is an afterthought. Paul controls the spice which controls the space guild. The houses not accepting Paul as emperor serves a better narrative purpose for the holy war/jihad, but definitely takes away some of the ābad guyā connotations for Paul. Also if I recall, some of the houses didnāt accept Paul anyways.
Chani in the movie is more explicitly there to tell the audience that Paulās not a messiah and is manipulative/not a āgood guy.ā Paul already said sheāll ācome aroundā so Iām not too stressed with her appearing to leave Paul. Aliaās story was mostly left out since they condensed the time but I donāt think the story suffers for it. Dune 3 will probably time skip and allow her to have a more physical role.
If dune 3 is basically messiah though I think a lot of people will be disappointed in the big time skip. He might dedicate the intro to showing the jihad but itās really about the after effects, ruling as emperor and all the damn conspiracies and Lās stacking up. So I wonder if instead heāll make some kind of bridge movie between end of dune 1 and beginning of dune messiah.

Feel like they left it open ended to keep the story going

It's like he didn't see all the other tech they operated that was just as advanced as flying ships

i see people who are stupid enough to think dune is a white savior movie like did we watch the same movie bro kills everyone and starts a holy war. itās suppose to be a critic of charismatic leader, part 3 spoiler he compares himself to hitler in the next book, 60b people die in the holy war
