This, researched this extensively last year to get it corrected on RYM but they denied it lol
This s*** a pet peeve for me tbh. I get the same way about Solace I hate when people call it a song. Earl told us what they were but they rather view it their own way
Not as outspoken as others particularly Noname but he's def sympathetic to it which is cool
I think he censors himself to an extent out of fear of being black balled and stuff
Give it to you straight no frills
Black Noi$e is the chosen one
We do not need two intro paragraphs explaining the Free Earl situation a decade later bro
I feel like every interview they still open with this
Idek why this bothered me so bad
feels almost like second hand embarrassment for the writer
I think he censors himself to an extent out of fear of being black balled and stuff
I don't think he would be too p**** to talk about it he's always been fairly unafraid to say things, genuinely don't think he's that serious about it so far, but sympathetic to more radical positions for sure

Yeah that sounds about right. Also, in a similar vein I think people really have to give this man more time and grace, he’s dealt with a lot of trauma, some of which we might not even know about, but it’s good he seems happier

Excerpt: On one track, Earl namechecks his “uncle Fela.” A few tracks later, he’s rapping over a burbling loop of triumphal horns that might’ve been looped from a Fela Kuti records. (As I’m writing this, the album credits aren’t yet available, but my gut tells me that’s a Fela sample.) Album closer “Fire In The Hole” has bluesy guitar filigrees and soft, plangent piano; it’s the rare moment on this very short album where Earl allows himself to fade into the background and let the song ride without him.

Sounds like the unreleased song here could be Fire in the Hole

“Fire leaving out the whole deep breathing only made me broke” has to be
