Does anybody get this weird unexplainable deja vu/transcendent feeling when listening to The Mint? I don’t know what about this song makes me transcend, like I really can’t say, it’s a pretty “normal” song in context of the album and what Earl was making around this time. On surface level listening so many other songs in his discog wash it.
There’s some weird ass magic s*** in this song I can’t even explain it. I’ve felt this way since 2018 and finally remembered to post about it lol
Bend we don't break
Bend we don't break
See The Bends is just straight up an amazing song and I can tell you why. The swing of them drums and the strings/vocal sample/the way Earl’s flowing. The Mint I can’t say the same about yet all the parts in that song come together to create this energy that feels so familiar yet unknown to me. I’m getting abstract with it so I’ll stop at that

nah bruh this resonates with me. SRS dropped a weird time in my life. that whole autumn was strange. the mint always brings me right back. or close to it. I remember when it dropped.
Earl describing The People Could Fly as a "mayoral campaign" tonally is such a hilarious comment because it accurately describes how I feel about the style/vibe of a lot of the rappers in that circle. Not necessarily a bad thing. MIKE is a great example of that style imo
its wild just seeing this guy mature and speak grown s*** for 20 minutes straight
like there's an intrinsic disconnect for me where I'm reflecting my own past 10 years upon lmao
I love SICK! but ive also been realizing that some rap songs is really like one of my favorite albums ever made
Sick just has the unfortunate distinction of following an artist's legitimate breakthrough
not calling it his magnum opus, but 2015's project was like "this man is ready is to get running, he looks like he's ready" and SRS was "he's gone and he's not being caught". Its hard to follow up a landmark
his energy in this clip
You can see him charge up in the beginning fr
!https://youtu.be/VjOJuGN1MHUI feel like this song was supposed to be on feet of clay or at the very least recorded during that era because he says “Babylon dreams, Daniel can you solve em? How you sleep knowing Rome is crumbling”
This nigga needs to do something with his facial hair bad dude ugly as f*** watching his and black noise stories killing me his mustache got a mind of its own

I HEAR THE TONE OF THE BELL
I would really like if the two beats Al played in this video ended up on the Earl x Al album, although I doubt it
