This trend of dropping out the percussion just doesn’t work for me. I wish I connected with his newer stuff more, but it just feels like drifting through an empty void. It’s like the hip-hop equivalent of a folk song written without a melody in mind where the writer is just writing for the sake of it. Haven’t heard the full album. I’m just talking about the single.
I’d say there’s a decent amount of tracks here with a percussion driven beat

I feel you but Earl is literally one of the very few who can actually execute this style well unlike most of the people he influenced in recent years
I think even the dust heads can’t hate on Alc. Bro been cooking for decades
Dudes really into this type of music know Al is a goat
Madlib fan boys the worst tho lol
up there with SRS after first listen
Definitely would say it’s confidently in my top 3 with SRS and Doris and I can see this being my fav Earl when alls said and done

He definitely does it well but if you forced me to choose—I’m listening to Doris and IDLSIDGO over anything released after. They have such a unique mood and atmosphere with just really strong immediately memorable tracks.
roc marciano told you that it don’t last
its better than Doris
Yeah I’d say this is my 2nd fav Earl with Doris at 3
Tbh I go back and forth with Doris and IDLS though

Doris is still really good but I cant help but feel like his writing has just matured and gotten much more focused as he's kept going
I Dont Like S*** is a really great middle ground between his 2 sounds though and I wish he did more with it, easily his most atmospheric stuff

Same
But there’s this weird group of internet people that can’t fathom another producer is as talented or well respected as Madlib or Dilla lol
Geb is everything you want in a rap song
