to be fair . . . . . . it is . . . . that's not all that it is but there is a trap subgenre of edm lol

they said that's all it was and that it has nothing to do with rap

This convo is f***in hilarious if you’ve watched this s*** go from A Milli knockoff beats to our current place

And then to see the vibe that Jeezy/TIP/Wop and their producers put in the game in mid 00s did temporarily get co-opted into EDM just off the drum sounds

Lex Luger doesn’t get enough credit lol

that's life as long as they get their flowers

Had somebody try to argue with me that trap was a form of EDM

you can’t call something “trap music” unless it’s about trapping or the trap

if you disagree, you either started listening to music in 2016 or are a suburbanite who has no place voicing their opinions on things they don’t know about

    respectfully bro

Just cause majority of people don’t know what it is and are following wat other people who ALSO don’t know what it means doesn’t make the word correct or some new meaning.

    yes it literally does

see the word literally and how people use it to mean the opposite of literally: figuratively

like when shorties be like "omg this latte is so good i literally want to die"

definitions and language are connotative not denotative, there is no ancient civilization that determines the definitions of all words or some s***. the definition evolved. you don't have to like it or respect it but you do have to acknowledge that there is a very vocal majority that uses the language differently than you.

    that’s a generalization

especially with the term having as broad a scope as it does at this point

also even in the cases where that could be considered true, does that make it “bad”?

    END OF TRANSMISSION

If it was it’s own thing that didn’t eclipse most mainstream acts in the genre not necessarily a bad thing

When the entire rap game was remade in the image of “trap rap” is where we had a problem

Niggas like Jeezy and TIP may sit down and write raps that happen to just be over trap beats but most Niggas are just going in there lazily freestyling and at best giving you basic Quavo type metaphors that we clown Big Sean for lol

Oh my Godddddd I was praying nobody actually started giving actual good examples but yes I understand that lol.

But man it’s America against America right now in this argument. And it’s just like this is the rare argument with trap because we only calling it trap because there is no other label on paper created for it yet. So I mean in that sense I just don’t like it. I acknowledge it everytime but I also educate or correct someone too

people okay with labeling anything with “trap production” as “trap music” are the same people who see nothing wrong with gentrification
