I know so few people in my age bracket and the next age bracket (age 22 to 32) who have their s*** together (don’t mean to phrase it as though they’re to blame). A lot of these people worked about as hard as their parents because they relied on the advice of their parents and grandparents on how to go about building their lives. Problem was their parents didn’t realize they were giving their kids pretty outdated information. So many people at like age 27 who have done what they’ve been told to do and still live at home, have a net worth of like $5k, not marriageable to anyone, etc. It’s very bizarre how American middle class life has been upended on a lot of fronts and not much has been done about it, besides some tepid calls to action by politicians without the talent to address it.
